The dying lady was alone. Very elderly she had no family, barely responsive she gasped for breath, Her head was tilted back and here eyes were glassy and looking at something unseen. I did gentle comfort care, Good oral hygiene. softly brushed the curls from her eyes. Repositioned her body and but her heels up on pillows. A few tears escaped her eyes which I gently brushed away. I sat with her during this lonely time, unwilling to let her go alone . We sat in quiet silence, my hand holding her old one. Thinking about how my MIL and I sat like this many a time. Until slowly she eased over to the other side of life. Her suffering on earth has ended. fairwell sweet patient. go lightly, suffer no more..

Funny

Ain't it the Truth!!!
A woman goes to the doctor for her yearly physical.
The nurse starts with certain basic items.
"How much do you weigh?" she asks.
"62kg," she says.
The nurse puts her on the scale.
It turns out her weight is 70kg.

The nurse asks, "Your height?"
"5 foot 8," she says.
The nurse checks and sees that she only measures 5' 4".

She then takes her blood pressure
And tells the woman it is very high.
"Of course it's high!" she screams,
"When I came in here I was tall and slender!
Now I'm short and fat!"

My indoor veggie patch

Every fall I bring my porch plants down in the basement to winter. We have a shop light set up with a cool and warm light. It is on a timer and mimics being outside. My plants do well.

I decided this year to see if I could grow a vegetable by this method so started with a pepper. And it works. I wasn't as consistent watering as I should have been but I think I might try cherry tomatoes and maybe try other things like potatoes, carrots, onions. I have a large area I could set up. so I am ordering some heirloom tomato seeds and will start out with that. Pretty cool huh. Imagine fresh tomatoes in the winter, home grown.. Yummy.

Taxes

I was reading about Oregon's new huge tax leap that was just voted in on Bungalow Bills site.. In keeping with this administrations agenda of class warfare they went after big business and the rich. So big business and the rich will be leaving Oregon. Just like they left California. Their loss could be our gain. So I decided I wasn't sure where my state stood as far as if we were a bad state or good state for business. I expected bad due to all the business's leaving us and moving across the river where they don't pay the huge taxes we do.

Have you gone to your states income revenue service site? Something about seeing it there in all it nip picking glory makes your stomach just twist in knots. 1% here, 5% there. Smoker? tax it. Small business? Tax it. Building something? tax it. Drinking water? Tax it. Buying something? Tax it, breathing, eating, eliminating, working, saving, driving, TAX IT.

Now I am not naive. I realize we need taxes for road repair and city services like our police and fire. But we are a land locked state, why the ocean and marine tax? We have a use tax? WTH is that. Tax on my beer. Household hazardous material fee, consumer use fee, ( isn't that just a repeat of the use tax?) and on and on and on. No wonder I have to work until the end of July to just pay my taxes. That is my income until then to PAY TAXES.

Doesn't it make sense if we decreased taxes people would save, people would spend, people would have health care, people would buy new cars and pay off their houses. People would have money to live on when they retire.

Since when did taxing become so out of control? You think its just 1 % but then go add it to what your paying already. Soon you will be paying 150% of your income to taxes. Borrowing money to pay it all off.

Remember years ago the tax on tea had people up in arms. It wasn't just the tea...... it was the straw that broke the camels back. And many backs are breaking here.

So don't poo baa the teaparties. Go to your site and see what you pay. It's sobering. It's frightening. And its wrong.
And if you see a tea party in your town, stop for a cuppa. Common Sense.

Doc Visit

Well driving out there was interesting. Blowing snow made visibility difficult and we saw 2 vehicles in the ditch. But it wasn't extremely scary driving. Oh winter, when will you end? I feel sorry for the people in Carrol Iowa who lost there power in the ice storm and they said it may be a month before they get it back. It has been a bad winter so far.

Anyway saw the doc and he said I have severe tendinitis of several of the tendon's in my wrist and probably the carpal tunnel has worsened. He couldn't get me a steroid shot because there are so many tendons involved. And the bad news! He said they will not be able to fix my wrist and I always have pain, but it will vary in how severe. "Make some life style changes', he says.

What he thinks happened is to rest my shoulder when I injured it I wasn't able to use this arm for months. Then after surgery movement was limited until about a month after, then I started to do all my exercises. My tendon's, not being as young as I would like to think, couldn't take the inactivity and then the intense exercise. They got all inflamed and stayed that way. He wants me in my brace most of the time.

The good news I think is the xrays showed no arthritis. I have to get another EMG, bummer, and a MRI and maybe surgery if the carpel tunnel is worse. And they will make me a brace that is slimmer and firmer that I will have to wear most of the time. As far as lifestyle changes I didn't go into much detail about what he meant with that. Give up my bike riding, climbing trees, or
give up my job. He says it is time to start acting like a Grandma. What! He being sooooo young thinks I am an old lady.

So that was a bummer of a visit. Then I went to the dentist for my cleaning and found out I had broken a tooth and lost a piece plus it was cracked. A month ago I had a toothache but it went away and I forgot about it. It's my last tooth so I can't see it. Out of sight, out of mind. I do so love getting all that drilling and filling. And maybe capping. Everytime I come into a little money, boom, disaster strikes. I guess I should be happy I now have the money to pay for my problems.

At the docs I was reading about all the states wanting to legalize marijuana. I still don't think it is the best thing for pain and I hear it is way to easy to get in the states that do have it legal. And I want to know. What about my rights. Do I have the right to know if the man fixing my brakes is on legal marijuana? The person driving the school bus, my doctor doing my surgery. Is there going to be somewhere we are protected on our right to know or will HIPAA laws protect them and not us. How about your pilot, you want to flying the friendly skies with a pilot higher then the skies? Not me.

I think the time to find out is before they pass these laws, not afterwards. And I want to know the real reason why this is on the books these days. It would be a great way to add more taxes to the books. Raise insurances, new medical problems, remember it is still inhaled into the lungs. And keeping everyone sedated sounds like a old sci fi story I once read. Makes it easier to pass unfriendly laws and bills if the people are to busy nodding off or munching on twinkies.

Well, enough of that. We ending up having a blizzard last night and several accidents. I don't have to be anywhere today. So I am staying home and doing laundry. And contemplating my lifestyle changes.

Snow.....Again

We had a major melt this week and lost about 8 inches of the snow. It was ugly out with gray streets and slush. So Mother Nature is covering up the ugly and making it pretty again with a new layer of snow.

Of course the roads are bad because the snow is blowing and school is starting late. I hope the interstate is good so I can get to the docs.

I don't know how many times I have driven to that doctors the past year in bad weather. I miss my old white van, which really bit the dust last week. I would never worry when we drove it. Hopefully we can get it in to get fixed. I love all wheel drive.

Otherwise not much going on. It will be interesting to see what the doc thinks. Knowing that place they will probably insist on another EMG study as they hurt. And I have a new insurance so don't know how they cover. Wish I didn't have to find out so soon.

Last night we watched a David Attemborough series. I just love those. It was on the bird of paradise. Such wonderful looking birds.

Well, time to get ready. My hair is a wild mess.

Doc visit

The doc visit went well. He thinks it is my carpal tunnel acting up big time and the great news is he pulled some strings so I can see the hand doc on Monday. Now that is impressive since it is hard to get into him. I am hoping a shot maybe of cortisone will fix me up and not surgery. And the doc told me to do all I could not to lose anymore function of my shoulder. I told him not only would I not lose more I was determined to get all my function back eventually.

I can's seem to stay away from the flower and nice weather shots. Driving wasn't bad today as far as the streets go, lots of salt, but the ice on the trees keeps crashing down on the car and sounds like it will break a windshield. The temps are up right now so it is melting and the wind picked up so it is all falling. The sounds in our woods are really cool and scary at the same time.

It is my youngest son's birthday today. 33. Wow, how did he get that old, I haven't changed a bit. And we are taking him to Chucky Cheese to eat, LOL. I had giving Luke's girlfriends kids a gift this Christmas of a pizza party at Chucky Cheese. My youngest just loves playing games with the kids and both of my son's are like kids playing the games there. So we are doing that tonight. If my youngest wants a more grownup meal we will take him for ribs tomorrow.

Well, my hand says quit. The doc says it just takes a long time for that burning in my bicep to go away. So move it move it move no matter how much it hurts. So as soon as my wrist and hand gets a little more tolerable I will.
