Ugh Day

I just couldn't sleep well last night. I had dreams all night about these stupid tests today. First I dreamed that I had the EMG and forgot about the MRI. So I get home and they call me and give me a bad time about forgetting the test and now everything is backed up. Yikes, the test. I get ready to go and all of a sudden I have some old man I am taking care of. Can't leave him home so I load him in the car to haul with me to the hospital. He doesn't want to go so complains loudly about wanting to go back home. Get to the hospital and they won't do the test now. Brother. Well I tell you, that woke me up. And in my dream the EMG was just as miserable as it turned out to be.

I kept waking up and checking the clock. 2:30, 3:30, 4. I am dragging I tell you.

The test really isn't horrible. There are a couple of places, when they stick the needle into your palm and then in the fatty place between the thumb and first finger that are pretty awful. And the place in the upper arm starts out not to bad but they use a stronger current and that gets just darn painful. My muscles on the arm are now sore and I am getting spasms. But what really was difficult was the MRI.
My hair was sticking out all over after the EMG from laying on the cot and then I get to the MRI and find out I have to lay on my stomach with my arm in the air like superman. My bad arm. I was worried about how my shoulder would hold up. Sure wish I had taken that pain pill before this test. And at first it wasn't really bad. But after about 15 minutes my shoulder was sending sharp signals of pain down my arm which in turn was going into spasms which prompted the tech to remind me to lay still. after 40 minutes it was just miserable. When I got out I could barely lift my arm and trying to get dressed again was a challenge. I almost just said heck with the bra but having a light blouse on I decided I didn't want to jiggle my way back to the waiting room.

I seriously just am worn out. And why? It wasn't like it was the worse thing I have ever been through. It just tuckered me out. My arm had a dozen little area's that are tender and my shoulder and wrist have little daggers of pain shooting through them. Pain meds are good things.

My day will be shot. I came home, made the Pico de Gallo I was going to make and now I am going to take a nap. I think I am just sick and tired of tests.

Speaking of hospitals and health care. Did you see one of the Premiers from Canada had to come to the states for his heart surgery. And this is what they want here. So where will we go if they pass this.

Also heard this today. 56% of Democrats and liberals see nothing wrong with socialism. And some idiot woman on the radio thinks we should have a straight pay system. Well excuse me. I put myself through school. Paid off all my loans. Lived on beans and noodles for 2 years. I go to school for continuing education every year. I have been working since I was 12. I deserve my check. I earned it, I worked for it. I have paid the price in body damage by doing the physical part of my job. I do not think I deserve the same as someone who dropped out of high school, spent all their money on frivolous things, rarely works, and charges their credit cards to the max. I am the child of a single mother, I had 2 children under 4 when I went to school. I have half a brain. If I can do, they can do it. And leave my check alone. Money earned by my hard work. Seriously they can't really know the true meaning of socialism to say that.

Well, thats my rant for today. Bedtime for me.

work and thoughts.

Well I am happily off work now until next week. And I came home last night for low census. That was good since my wrist was smarting and I had a headache. Thinking about all the snow that is coming our way. Again.........

The hospital just called and moved my tests up a hour tomorrow. Might as well get it over with. Happily for me my wrist, while still painful, is nothing like it was a couple of weeks ago. Then it felt like I imagine it would feel if you slugged a brick wall with your fist. Now it just feels like I badly sprained my wrist. Wearing my brace helps.

Looking out the window we have big fat flakes and the temp is 40. A heat wave. Love it. It is so pretty and maybe since it is this warm it won't stick.

I have been reading with interest about Toyota's problems. I remember the first time I heard about throttles sticking was on that old show 911. Some woman's throttle had stuck. On her American car. And it turns out that any of our new cars with electrical ignition could have this problem. Electrical magnetic interference. So if Toyota has to recall their cars what about Obamamotors?

I seem to remember, and heard again today, that in Jan. GM workers were protesting the Toyota plant for hiring non union workers. Interesting that now all of a sudden this issue has come up. Chicago style politics at work? Don't mess with the government? It's like getting audited by the IRS if you complain about them.

To me the government is doing their job if they make you less dependent on the government. Make jobs strong by not taxing them to death. Kind of like a parent who raises their kid and gives them the freedom to do their own thing, not run their life.

I also heard today that they only teach america history up until 1880.. After that they call it Global history! What the heck is that. I would like to read one of those books. See what part of history they are leaving out. I have a pretty good idea. No wonder so many people I know are home studying these days. Knowing then what I know now I would have. But my sons are still learning. As am I.

Getting rid of TV helped. I watched a movie, violent and the language was terrible. I hate swearing for swearing sakes. Actors use it every other word. And the glorification of violence and sex I believe is what is wrong with the country. This country which has become so brutal. Acts of violence learned at the breast that tv has become. They can call it art and pat each other on the back, give each other awards but it is still for the most part trash. And not even original trash. And seriously, most people, thank goodness don't act as trashy as the folks in Hollyweird,

Well, I am putting off going to sleep so I don't wake up and get my test. Silly of me. Time to face it and go to bed. Night all.

One more night

We have been blessed with some pleasant patients this week. Sick but pleasant and a delight to take care of. It does so make the job easier. When someone is questioning your every move, writing down everything you sad and asking your name, well it gets irritating . Telling me the lastest thing they heard in the readers digest. Oh yes, that important piece of noteworthy journalist. The same one that says accidents happen to your loved oned more freq at night. Well not on my shift sister.. Go home to bed and let us do our job.

Otherwise it was a good night and after tonight my last for awhile.. Yippy;

Days off, good things.

I had just wonderful patients this week. The nicest people. So that was great. And I wore my brace most the time so my wrist isn't bothering me like it did my last weekend on. So life was good. Best news, I am off tonight. I am not going to do a thing but that is great because it snowed again and I just want to take it easy.

I guess we are going to get snow off and on all week. Goody. Our snowblower is still at our sons. They are johnny on the spot when they want to borrow it but slow as snails when we want it back. And since it is heavy and we need his truck to get it here......

I keep reading about the horrible way things are going in Haiti's. The entire world practically is there helping but it is still horrible. No running water, no possibility of escape, no jobs and not enough to eat. It breaks my heart. There need will be for such a long time and it sounds like their corrupt government is starting back with the usual bribes and business as usual, even at its peoples expense. The poor children. Everyday be so grateful for what you have. Because in the blink of an eye...

Friday I get my tests. I am hurting just thinking of how I will have to lay in the MRI machine with my arm above my head. The arm I had shoulder surgery in. The swelling in my wrist is better. Hummmmm, maybe I should just cancel. And that emg. Needles being stuck in my palm and hooked up to current. The closer it gets the better my memory is getting at how unpleasant that is. Boo Hoo for me. But I tell you. I can still run circles around those younger nurses. Just can't open my bottles, LOL. I am not ready for the scrape heap yet!

Per Politico, "Pelosi, who has come under fire in the past for spending on flowers, also spent roughly $30,610 in food and beverage and about $2,740 on bottled water, contributing to the nearly $120,531 total from all congressional leadership accounts. Her offices defended the charges, saying the Speaker’s office holds more ceremonial events with visiting dignitaries than other congressional offices. They also use a local florist, and about a third of her flower expenses this quarter were for Jack Kemp’s funeral". Isn't there suppose to be some type of spending freeze? Pay taxpayers pay.
