Death of a Robin

For the last 3 years I have had a robin building a nest on the wreath on my porch. Although I will have no way of knowing for sure if it was the same robin I think it was. She usually lay twice during the year and for the last week had been sitting on new eggs.

The first year she was a terror. I would go out to work on my flowers and she would dive out of the nest and at my head. The entire time I was watering she would be diving at my head and screaming at me. Connected a couple of times also. Hurt.

This year she was calmer. Although the majority of the time she did fly out of the nest when I watered she didn't always. We had a truce built up.

This morning I went out to check the flowers and saw feathers and broken eggs on the porch. Lots of feathers. Somehow something got to the nest and the eggs. I suppose it could have been an owl or hawk. I don't know how the raccoon that has been hanging around could have gotten up to her.

It saddens me. I really enjoyed seeing the new babies and had come to admire her spunk. She will be missed. Will any other Robin take it over? Any of the babies that had been born there? Time will tell. But it no longer seems like such a safe place to have her nest. Maybe I will take the wreath down.

Skin doc visit

I went to see the skin doc today. Turns out the area's I was worried about aren't anything to be concerned about and the area's I wasn't worried about are pre-cancerous. How's that happen? And one's on my nose! I said I didn't want one on my nose or on my lips. You start looking on the internet at skin cancer pictures and you always see one on the nose, and then the surgery with a big hole in the nose. So I didn't want one there.

Take it off I said, before it gets big and you have to remove half my nose. Because it is the only part of me that is cute and little. Now while they could just freeze a small area without leaving a big hole. I am living with the dimple on my cheek, it's not bad but I don't want that on my nose.

Can't yet. We will watch it for now he say's. I wonder if it is because insurance will only pay for cancerous ones or maybe it won't ever turn into cancer before I die of something else. Who knows. So I guess I have to keep my every 3 month appointments.

It is still raining out. And it is suppose to rain every day. I am already tired of it. It was lovely the week I was sick. It was lovely the week I worked. Now rain. I hope it is lovely when the grand kids get here. They are not used to not having TV and it is easier to entertain them outside. 8 days left.

I am working an extra 12 hours on Monday. I suppose it will be lovely that day. Tomorrow I am going to watch the Roller derby and take photo's for them and then Sunday for Flag day there is a patriotic ceremony down at the river. No politicians, just people who are proud of their country and their flag. Normal people.

Trying to find a flag to wave that doesn't say made in China was a little hard, but we did find one. We might even say the Pledge the Allegiance to the flag, Shock! With our hands over our hearts, Shock. And not say a single bad thing about our country, double shock!! Our government could learn something from that. And I am taking my camera.

Well, Rick made a great meal and we are going to watch a movie. It's a man flick. How come they always balk at watching a chick flick but I sit through like 300 man flicks a year?

Four Years of Journaling.

June 8th, 2005, I started my AOL journal. I remember with the diet plan I was on it was to be a tool. Something to record my successes and what things caused me to lose momentum.

It never occurred to me anyone would ever read my journal and it didn't occur to me to read anyone elses journal. Until Sugar contacting me by leaving me a comment. I had found the great big world of AOL journals and the wonderful people around the world that made it up.

People have come and gone over the years. Missed by many. Many of us traveling to blogger when aol closed its door on us. And many have left here.

Me, I keep plugging along. Still losing a pound here and there and gaining some back. The same but not the same. I travel all over the world in my blogs. Seeing other peoples beautiful homes and countries, getting to know in the heart we all want and need the same thing. Closing the bridge and making real friends. My on line friends. I hurt when they hurt and laugh when they laugh. Celebrate the birth of grandchildren and mourn the loss of a loved one.

So ingrained in this blog am I that my son have strict orders to post on my journal if anything ever happens to me and I can't.

I don't lay my soul bare here, I am a private person in some aspects but you have been with me through sickness and health, rich or poorer, better or worse. Rant and rave. Life as I know it.

Will I make another year? I am not sure. Maybe, probably. Have a goal now you see. 5 years.

The shoulder

Next week I see the doc about my shoulder again. It has been over 6 months since I injured it. Its weird the way it behaves these days. I will think it is doing much better and then move just right and get a ripping pain. The last 3 days I have the weirdest nerve thing going on. I feel like I have a long hair on my forearm. I keep going to brush it off but there's nothing there. And I am still getting the shooting pain down my arm at times. But the majority of the time I can live with the discomfort. I don't know what his plans are.

I think it is time to start using the arm and see what happens. If it doesn't get any worse then this I can handle it. I am still using tylenol and Ibuprofen usually every 5 to 6 hours for comfort. When I try not taking anything that deep muscle aches gets bothersome. Another ache and pain on the poor ole bod.

The weather out is wonderful today. No rain and not humid or hot. The plants are loving the sun. Too bad I have to work but I am glad I feel well enough to. My boss hit me up for a extra shift on Monday and maybe a couple this weekend. I decided to start doing as much overtime as possible to pay off what few bills I have as soon as I can. I already have doubled my car payments and pay a payment and a half on my house. I would like to double the house payments. Those are the only 2 bills I have and not having payments would be grand. Then I can start stockpiling the money I used to spend on that for my retirement. Only 12 years away.

Does anyone have a cool 4 year of blogging graphic? Coming up soon. I think the 20th put I have to go back and check.

Well, Rick is almost done with our lovely meal. Time to get my act together. Work was wonderful last night except for the code so hopefully today will be nice also.

150 Thousand jobs Saved! BS.

Unless it is all in Washington, last count there were 16 new Czar's and numerous new government officials, but how does taking over GM and closing dealerships all over the country not to mention all the jobs people are losing as companies get ready for the government controlled health plan count as 150 thousand jobs!. Where is the world does this master of self promotion come up with these numbers. The same place that says people believe he is doing a good job I guess. I think he pulls them from his ....... well I am a lady so I won't say where.

Still flower crazy

I am still taking a ton of flowers. Looking for the perfect shot. We have had rain every day so the flowers are just loving it. Check out the Spirea shrub down below. It is loaded with blooms now.

My flower baskets are crammed full and hopefully will bloom all summer.

Below is the Mock orange I mentioned earlier. I am not sure how this bush is suppose to grow, if I should be pruning it or what. I will have to research it more but this year it is covered with flowers. I didn't have any for 2 years.

And rain drops on petals are always pretty.

We had a nice night last night. Lots of giggles and it was good to be out. We called it a early night though as neither of us wanted to relapse. Today I have been just working on some photo shots and cleaning house. Wouldn't it be great to just be able to click your fingers and have it done. Looking around I have decided to get rid of at least half of my nick nacks. I am so tired of dusting them. I also am thinking about selling some of my clocks one ebay. I mean no one needs this many clocks either. And I have to go through my closets and bring things to goodwell. I keep buying clothes that I like when I first try them on but don't like them after I get them home. And then rather then return them I stick them in my closet. Now I can barely cram anymore in there and half of it I never wear. Maybe the mirrors at the stores lie better then my one at home. Anyway...time for spring cleaning.

Work tonight and tomorrow. Our census has leaped back up to our normal load so we have been busy and I might work some extra this week to make up for the short check last week. If I wasn't so lazy I could probably work everyday.

One food for thought thing. On the health care program the government wants. Ask any of the veterans if they would want their children and grandchildren to have that type of health care. That's a government run program. Medicare is a government run program. Look how poorly that is run. CPR, or Conservatives for Patients Rights is a great site with lots of information. Check it out. And check out this article, it's very good.

Hello

I managed to work Saturday and Sunday. Everyone at work seems to be either coming down with or just getting over some type of virus. Now I know where I probably picked this wonderful little bug up. Plus strep is going around and a GI bug. Gee, hope I don't catch them. I have already had the strep, but not the GI bug unless you count the food poisoning I got awhile back. Such a healthy place to work, LOL. Last night we went around with the strongest sanitizer we could find and wiped down every phone, every mouse, every door handle and we are determined to stop this bug in its tract. I am sick of being sick and how can I save up my PTO if I'm ill every few weeks.

Work was lovely the last 2 days. I was blessed to have a very nice group of patients, very elderly but alert and with it. Does my heart good to see. For awhile we had so many patients that were confused and much of the night was spent trying to keep them in bed and out of harms way. You see these very fragile thin elderly patients kicking their legs over the side rails and sliding their way out of the bed. Makes you nervous. And confused so you can never convince them that calling you for help is a good idea. So having each and every patient alert and able to do that was a true blessing.

We have been having rain for the past few days and everything outside has just exploded in color. All my shrubs are in full bloom. The mock orange trees I planted a few years back and didn't think would ever bloom are covered in lovely white flowers. I suppose we will get the first large swarm of mosquito's out of it but it is very pretty.

The countdown for my grandchildren's arrival is getting shorter and shorter. I am so excited to see them. I bet they have gotten so tall. I will be a nervous wreak though until the plane safely arrives. I wish they lived closer so we could just drive. To get them back though we are driving half way to meet their other grandparents. I am not sure if I am going on that trip, we will see.

I have my 4 year anniversary of blogging coming up shortly. Looks like it may be the last year as blogging seems to be dying the slow death. Just never took off like AOL and I just can't get into facebook. Just don't like the layout or feel of it. So I predict just having my photo blog eventually but we shall see. The reasons I blog are a little different then somes as I do it more as a personally daily journal entry. Same reason's I used to write a written journal. I look back often in my journal for forgotten recipes and dates. But I do love visiting all the other countries and states by way of others blogs. Its like traveling and I can even afford it. Bogging has opened up the world for me and made it's people real and wonderful. Getting to know everyone from all over the world on a closer basis is a good thing. Our world leaders should blog. Ask about each others kids, flowers and day. Maybe make the world a better place.

It's date night tonight. We are both feeling better and tired of being cooped up. My last rose is getting pretty wilted. The rose lady looked ready to have her baby any second the last monday so I don't know if I will get a new one today but even without the rose, the relaxing and visiting will be nice.

Frances. I tried the Zicam. Rick bought the one for allergies so I am not sure if it helped or not but I am feeling so much better so hopefully it did. I also found using my inhaler helped with my wheezing and cough. Lets hope this is the absolute last time I get this.

So anyway. Ta all. My tomato plants are massive and I feel the need to be outside. Oh one more thing. Anyone ever watch Doc Martin? It's a british show. We found it on Hulu.com and love it but they only show the first season.
