Doc Visit

Well driving out there was interesting. Blowing snow made visibility difficult and we saw 2 vehicles in the ditch. But it wasn't extremely scary driving. Oh winter, when will you end? I feel sorry for the people in Carrol Iowa who lost there power in the ice storm and they said it may be a month before they get it back. It has been a bad winter so far.

Anyway saw the doc and he said I have severe tendinitis of several of the tendon's in my wrist and probably the carpal tunnel has worsened. He couldn't get me a steroid shot because there are so many tendons involved. And the bad news! He said they will not be able to fix my wrist and I always have pain, but it will vary in how severe. "Make some life style changes', he says.

What he thinks happened is to rest my shoulder when I injured it I wasn't able to use this arm for months. Then after surgery movement was limited until about a month after, then I started to do all my exercises. My tendon's, not being as young as I would like to think, couldn't take the inactivity and then the intense exercise. They got all inflamed and stayed that way. He wants me in my brace most of the time.

The good news I think is the xrays showed no arthritis. I have to get another EMG, bummer, and a MRI and maybe surgery if the carpel tunnel is worse. And they will make me a brace that is slimmer and firmer that I will have to wear most of the time. As far as lifestyle changes I didn't go into much detail about what he meant with that. Give up my bike riding, climbing trees, or
give up my job. He says it is time to start acting like a Grandma. What! He being sooooo young thinks I am an old lady.

So that was a bummer of a visit. Then I went to the dentist for my cleaning and found out I had broken a tooth and lost a piece plus it was cracked. A month ago I had a toothache but it went away and I forgot about it. It's my last tooth so I can't see it. Out of sight, out of mind. I do so love getting all that drilling and filling. And maybe capping. Everytime I come into a little money, boom, disaster strikes. I guess I should be happy I now have the money to pay for my problems.

At the docs I was reading about all the states wanting to legalize marijuana. I still don't think it is the best thing for pain and I hear it is way to easy to get in the states that do have it legal. And I want to know. What about my rights. Do I have the right to know if the man fixing my brakes is on legal marijuana? The person driving the school bus, my doctor doing my surgery. Is there going to be somewhere we are protected on our right to know or will HIPAA laws protect them and not us. How about your pilot, you want to flying the friendly skies with a pilot higher then the skies? Not me.

I think the time to find out is before they pass these laws, not afterwards. And I want to know the real reason why this is on the books these days. It would be a great way to add more taxes to the books. Raise insurances, new medical problems, remember it is still inhaled into the lungs. And keeping everyone sedated sounds like a old sci fi story I once read. Makes it easier to pass unfriendly laws and bills if the people are to busy nodding off or munching on twinkies.

Well, enough of that. We ending up having a blizzard last night and several accidents. I don't have to be anywhere today. So I am staying home and doing laundry. And contemplating my lifestyle changes.

Medicinal purpose legalization makes it easier to legalize for recreational use by removing the stigma.

I just made an appt with my orthopedic to have him look at the knee I had ACL reconstruction surgery on 1 year ago. It's swelling up, painful. I was hoping to hear better news about your hand other than make some lifestyle changes. Keep warm!

Living with pain is not easy as you have found out already. Go ahead and get yourself a legal smoke if that will help LOL. Thank you very much I have rather have my senses with pain than walk around in a daze. Helen

No legalized mj!!! I hope they can do something with your wrist. sorry about the bad news regarding it. I haven't even had my wrist checked out, but I either have it taped or in a brace. think I'll wait til it doesn't hold up anymore. take care!....and you're NOT old!

What a cheek saying you are old!!!!! Some doctor he is! Sheesh!
As for not getting any help regarding pain relief..that's awful! How on earth are you going to cope? Does a brace take some of the pain away?..I'm not sure of that answer. I guess it wont be too helpful in that department. How frustrating for you Julie.
Maybe the carpal tunnel operation will hep eventually. I had a friend who had that done to both hands and the relief it gave her was tremendous.
As for the wacky baccy..I'm inclined to agree with you on that one.

Stay safe on the roads.
Hugs
