Jaguars vs Rams, Go Jaguars.

Yeah I know, Weird isn't it. Me being a sports fan. But this mess between Rush Limbaugh and the Rams has turned me into a fan. Of any team playing against them. Now I know it was only 4 or 5 racist members of the team, but we have to take a stand against slander and racism each and every time it shows up. And this is a pure case of slander. The information they were reporting was from Wikipedia for pete's sake. Since when did that become a legitimate source for reporters. Course now a days they don't need a source. They just read what is in front of them. True or not. So anyway. Go Jaguars go. I hope you beat by a landslide. Pass me those pretzels and beer.

Lotties Grave, another ghost story

I suppose every town has one. A local ghost story. We have a couple. Toys tomb and Lottie Edward's grave. Every teenager eventually ends up there to prove their salt so to speak.

I had been going out with my boyfriend for several weeks when we decided to drive out there. He was a lovely young man. Well mannered and polite. Stopped when I said no but boy could he kiss. Anyway....... let's see. It was a long time ago.

One night we decided to go to Lottie's grave near Homer Neb. Some of our friends were going and having nothing else to do we decided to meet them there after the movie. Don't remember the name of movie, did I mention that he was a good kisser? Anyway.

It was a typical October night. Cool and misty....foggy. The directions we had were sketchy so we were having a difficult time finding the bridge. Creak once if she was out and twice if she was in the grave. I nervously slid closer to my boyfriend. You could do that with those old Dodges, just slide across the seat. Looking for the ghostly Cadillac that some people saw.

We parked along side a old dirt road and got out to look for the entrance. That's when it happened. My boyfriend was possessed by the ghost. I felt his arms go around me and lock me in his grip. He eyes looked terrifying. Glowing almost. He tried to have his way with me. My nice polite boyfriend. I knew he was under the influence of forces not of this world. And as I struggled I heard a car in the distance. The ghostly Cadillac? I screamed as loud as I could and slapped him across his face.... for his own good, poor boy, and he released me. 'Lets go", I cried. " Hurry before the car gets here", and we climbed in the car and left. I had managed to escape with my virginity intact. No thanks to Lottie.

The next day my friends said they had gone and they had heard the ghost. A long scary scream that echoed over the hills. It had scared them so badly they turned around and drove home.

Things never were the same between us after that. At first I believed his story about the ghost making him do it. But then I wondered. Why would a female ghost do that? Why not possess me? And then I decided it was because I wasn't as weak willed as my boyfriend. That was it. We broke up.

I heard over the years he took several girls out to Lotties. And sometimes the ghost of Lottie won and my possessed x boyfriend had his way with them. I knew I was right to break up with him. He never learned from past mistakes. Or maybe the ghost of Lottie never completely left him. As for me? I never went back. Why tempt fate.

Working the entire week

You know, I work 12 hour shifts which get long and hard on you. Sometimes your so busy you don't sit hardly at all. And I swear it seems easier at times then this day shift working every single day.

I work a long stretch but I get a long stretch off. I seem to get things done. Now I come home exhausted from my desk job. Rick has been making some absolutely wonderful meals, pop in the shower and go to bed early. No housework, no dusting. I need to do laundry. I am so behind on everyone's blog. How do you all do it?

I suppose I will finally get used to it next week. The 27th I see the doc. Hopefully he will release me to work again on the floor. The 12 hours will fly. Sometimes these 8 hours just drag by. And my check is just a shadow of its old self. I need to make some serious money again.

I haven't had time to follow the news much. Have been listening about Rush. Sorry but the news is lying about him again. He did not say what they said he said. And that picture they are using. He has lost so much weight he doesn't even look like the picture they show. So you know what Rush, I would be proud and honored to have you sponsor me.

I have been hearing some worrisome things on the news. Lots of talk about all the unnecessary medical procedures doc's do on people. Why all of a sudden? Getting you ready for when your new socialize medicine won't cover half the things wrong with you? After all it wasn't necessary in the first place right? I don't trust most things I hear on the news these days. The days are coming.

Also it seems they will start paying off ACORN again at the end of the month. They only stopped payment for a month to get people's short attention span onto something else. Have they suddenly cleaned up their act? Not. Sigh.

Makes me sad and sick to listen to the news. I will do my best to care for the patients as long as I can as best as I can. We interviewed a nurse from another country. She said they have 20 patients each with one aide. The mix their own drugs. The patients family do most of the care. The nurses only do wound care and pass meds. Now personally I think the family should get more involved in this country then they do, but the truth is everyone works. If you miss work you get fired or no pay. But this is our future. Unless we stop it. I don't want 20 patients. I don't want over 5 patients. I want to take care of you to the best of my ability..

Well, time to pop in the shower. One more day to go.

Yeah, just heard the great news the 6 year old from the balloon was found hiding in a box. I am glad he didn't get hurt. I have a feeling his older brothers might be in trouble. Glad it has a good outcome.

Extra Extra Read all about it

There is NO SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING. The BBC finally came out and admitted what most of us have know since they first starting reporting on it. The warming was caused by the sun flares. It is a natural occurring event. It was a huge political event and a created crisis made for one mans financial gain. Or several actually. So global warming. Just another Urban legend. I told ya so..... And they will probably still cap and trade you to death. Still going to charge you for those carbon credits. Scam and fraud on the government level again. What a novelty.

Run Zoey, Run

Late last night Zoey started to bug me to go out. Darn, right in the middle of our movie. I took her out in the back and heard a heavy body move into the woods. Deer, I thought. Zoey went and then went about sniffing where the stray dog had visited her backyard. As she moved further away I heard a snort and then a crash...... Oh No! Run Zoey, Run! The buck was charging us.

For once she minded. We turned and ran. Leaping into the house and slamming the door I looked out to see the large buck stopping in the middle of the yard.

I hope your happy Zoey, I gasped. Had to mess around and smell this time of year. We could of gotten killed! She happily wagged her tail and nudged the treat jar. What fun. When she wanted out later I made Rick bring her.

My spooky Ghost story, and true too!

As a child we lived upstairs in a large house that had been turned into a duplex. There were 6 rooms. A living room, 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. And being we lived upstairs the attic.

I loved our bathroom. It was totally tiled. The floor and the wall all the way up to the ceiling. And it was a big room, same size as our bedroom. Huge old claw foot tub.

As children we of course explored every inch of our new place. The attic was a great place to play and keep our pet raccoon. The stairs creaked and the huge space upstairs was scorched from a old fire. We played up there a lot.

Shortly after we moved in we started hearing the noises. Footsteps going upstairs and babies crying. My mother got up several times to check on us children when she heard the cries but we were all sleeping. But even it the daytime. Sitting at the kitchen table, the attic door right off the the side wall, we would hear steps going upstairs. No mistaking the sound. Slow steady tread on each stair. The 3rd step alway had a certain sound when you hit it. A distinctive pop.

My mother took to staying up at night. She kept finding the attic door open. Putting a chair in front of it at night she would fitfully doze to awake and find the chair was back at the table and the door was open. But us kids. It never seemed to bother us. It wasn't a scary sound to us.

My mom finally told a neighbor about the things she was hearing. Nervously laughing she said she thought the house was haunted. And we found out from our elderly neighbor a possible cause.

Our house used to be a birthing house. She had newpaper clippings on it. The delivery room was our bathroom. That was why it was all tiled. Downstairs in our neighbors living room it was long and L shaped like a waiting room. The mothers and babies stayed upstairs. And some stayed in the attic. The fire was in the night and by the time the alert was called they couldn't get all the mothers and babies out from the attic. The smoke got to them. 3 mothers and their babies had died.

For some reason that calmed my mother. She left the door open every night and started sleeping again. Because she said she could understand the mothers going to their babies. And it wasn't scary. They were calming sounds..

Years later, long after we moved out, I talked to someone who had lived in the house after we moved. They also heard the cries and footsteps and they also didn't find them frightening.

As an adult I have a hard time believing in ghosts. There has to be some logical explanation. Right? But I know what we heard. And I know it was real. And this is a absolutely true story. This happened to me. Now tell me yours.

Snow all week!

They are predicting snow all week. I went back in my archives and checked when we had snow and it wasn't until Jan. Then we had tons for a few months. When did everyone else get snow last year?

It is cold but we still don't have our furnace on. Those oil space heaters work great. I wonder if we could go all winter? Don't know about the pipes though. We will use them all winter and keep the furnace turned low when we have to turn it on.

Tonight I am cooking. Shocked. In fact I will start shortly. Corned beef and cabbage. Yummy. Why wait til St Paddies day when this recipe is so yummy.

  • 1 (5 1/2 pound) corned beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons pickling spice
  • 1 large orange, sliced in rounds
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 6 tablespoons margarine, divided
  • 1 large head cabbage, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup Golden Delicious apples, cored and quartered with peel
  • 1/4 cup cold water

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Line a 9x13 inch roasting pan with aluminum foil, leaving enough extra extending over the sides to cover and seal in the roast.
  2. Rinse the brisket, and pat dry. Rub with pickling spice, and place in the prepared roasting pan. Arrange celery, orange and onion slices on and around the roast. Pour in 1/2 cup of water, and wrap aluminum foil up over the roast tightly, making sure the ends are sealed.
  3. Bake for about 4 hours in the preheated oven, or until meat is tender.
  4. About 45 minutes before the roasts time is up, heat 3 tablespoons of margarine and 1/4 cup of water in a large pot. Add cabbage and apples, cover, and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. Occasionally shake the pot so that nothing sticks to the bottom. Serve with remaining margarine and sliced corned beef.
Now what I am doing different then the above. I am using a smaller brisket, 3 1/2 pd, so I am cutting down the temp to 250 and cooking for 6 hours. I also use a browning bag. In the last 3 hours I will had some Yukon gold potatoes cut and sealed in the bag. I also use eithe
r apple juice or beef lig instead of water. I don't have any apple juice today so beef it is. Then I mix up a sauce of sour cream, horseradish, Dijon mustard and a little mayo to use for dipping on the corn beef. This is a fool proof dish and easy.

Work tomorrow so I am cleaning house today while supper cooks, washing and ironing clothes and dusting. And doing my exercises. I am also going to go for a walk later.

Last night Chester was still under the weather. I was petting him and noticed something stuck between his teeth. A sliver of hay was wedged between his teeth and sticking out about a 1/4 of an inch. I pulled it out and what a happy little piggy. He has been making up for lost t
ime eating and drinking. Poor little thing. It looked like a whisker at first. Hopefully that cured him.

You know another thing Ben Stein reminded us of. Of all the bailout money half of it is missing.. Our government can't account for it. Do you really want them involved in your health care? They have some pretty deep pockets in Washington. Also did you know? They just gave ACORN another billion plus dollars? Can this be right? They feel the power. They feel they ca
n do whatever they want. Rub our noses in it. And they wonder about the angry mob.

Fact is Obama likes to say doctors charge 50,000 for that knee replacement but the truth is Medicare pays them probably less then $750.00. He should check his facts before he goes throwing figures around.
