Love the weekend

Dont have to work, no appointments, no where I have to be. Its a good thing..

My wrist is still feeling better. I am tired of the brace already but remind myself I only have one more week to go.

Tonight we went to see the Roller Dames play. Our team lost.. bummer. It was still fun.

I got my hair trimmed and highlighted. I like it. and I joined a online group to keep me motivated to clean my house daily.. The fly Lady. Anyone heard of her? Really fun site. I will have this house organized and clean if it kills me. Anyway, check out here side.

Haven't seen my sons for 2 weeks. I miss them when it gets to be to long but I know they are busy. Still

Earlier I had a great post thought up and if I had been here it would have been brilliant, trust me. But it was one of those post you have to get down right away while the thoughts are flowing. Just hate to let those insiteful brilliant moments pass, time goes to quickly.

Funny things this morning

So far today I heard.

Only 6% of the people polled think the stimulus money helped anyone.

7 % of people polled believed in Santa Claus! More people believe in Santa then stimulus......

In this town being on unemployment pays $10.00 a hour. Minimum wage is $7.00. That's a 3 dollar raise to lose your job!

Pain Free

For the first time in a long long time I have to say my wrist is pain free. Whoopy. Wearing this cast prevents the movement that really caused me pain. And I like it. I could get used to this, LOL. I may never let them take this case off.

Last night at work was a challenge. I had to get some X large gloves up to fit over the cast. 2 out of every 5 I put on I ended up ripping. Of course I had isolation patients so I had to wear gloves most of the time and cover the rest of the cast with a plastic bag. What a bother. But......pain free, such a nice feeling. I love it!

One more night of work. I have been flushed and having hot flashes all night and think it was from the steroid shot, I seem to remember that from the last time I had a big shot. And maybe the pain is better because of the shot. Not sure but don't care.

I want to go out and get some photos this week for the challenge but haven't tried to use my camera with the cast on. And I can't get my gloves on which is a bummer as it is cold as usual. I wonder how long it will take to melt the 40 + inches of snow we have on the ground? August?

The more I read about this disease he thinks I might have the less I like it. I am praying it is wrong and it turns out to be something else. This is after all usually a man's disease. I don't share my PMS, they should keep their bone death disease. Well actually thinking about it...... I guess I did use to share my PMS with Rick. Into every marriage some spice must fall, right.

Well time to wash my hair. One handed. I am getting used to just having one hand to use. Oh, one other thing. My shoulder feels pretty darn good.

Better Morning

My wrist doesn't hurt as bad this morning and the steroid must be working. Thank goodness. Some drugs are good things.

I have been reading about Kienbocks disease. Gee, the carpel tunnel sounded much better. Apparently this is just going to progress and get worse. I haven't seen how long it takes to get worse, hopefully a long time. I have a feeling this may hamper my bike riding, LOL.

I feel slightly better about being so whimpy about the pain in my wrist though. I told the doc maybe my pain tolerance wasn't as good as I thought it was but he said with this, the bone dying is very painful and he is surprised I wasn't complaining more. So I don't know why but that makes me feel better. Still super woman, LOL..

I have a pretty blue cast to match the color of my true loves eyes, boy did Rick roll his eyes when I requested this color this way. And he was so great holding my hand when they injected the steroid. That is never pleasant. They did it under fluoroscopy so I could watch at the same time. Pretty cool, would have been cooler if it had been someone else but still pretty cool.

I wonder what my boss will say when I show up with a cast. I am not going to tell her, just show up and hope they have extra large gloves to fit over the cast. And hope I don't have isolation patients for awhile. This is going to be a pain. Hopefully I only have to wear it for 2 weeks. Then they will make me a brace to wear. There is no cure for what I have so most of the treatment is based on supporting the wrist and controlling the pain. Eventually down the road they may have to fuse the wrist but hopefully that is way down the road.

We are still getting snow and one of our interstates is closed. We have also been busier then bees at work. One night we got 9 admits. sick sick patients.

Well, time to go and get my laundry in. 2 more nights to work.

Dr appointment

I saw the doc today. He is treating me for Kienbock's disease. I had never heard of it so I looked it up. Yup, the symptoms are exactly what I have. Pain pain. It is bad news. I got a steroid shot and have a short arm cast on for at least 2 weeks. I am in a lot of pain right now and the cast is pinching a nerve so I am simply miserable. Bummer news.
