Back on the night shift.

Try as I might I ended up waking up yesterday around 6 am and then worked my night shift last night. 26 hours later I crawled into bed exhausted, in pain, but happy to be back on the floor. I just really missed it.

I had some lovely patients last night, cheerful and friendly and happily easily fixed which made us all happy. It was a good night. I was almost purring I was so happy.

However. My gosh everyone at the place is coughing their lungs out. Almost all the staff, 3/4 of the patients, visitors. Everyone but me with with the odds stacked against me this tall it will probably just be a matter of time. I am eating zinc, vit c and d like candy. Please don't let me get that cough I had for over 2 months last winter. Fortunately they say they don't feel sick, just have this terrible cough.

Today I caught up on my sleep. Watched some videos on the rally in Washington from yesterday. I was proud at how peaceful and sane it was. I can only hope and pray it does something. This video shows some of the people that had questions and support those politicians who actually came and answered some questions. We have questions, give us the answers. There is a great interview with a doctor. Turns out AARP is now supporting Obamacare because they are promising to use their insurance. So it is all about the money. Go figure.

Prayers for the Soldiers and Families of Fort Hood

To our fallen Hero's, the wounded, the families my heart goes out to you all in this tragic time.

AARP sells out its seniors.

AARP approves obamacare. I have never been a member of this group as I think they run to the far left. But this is the most unbelievable thing I have heard. I think you should cut up the cards and send them and tell them why you can no longer be part of an organization that would put their members at risk. Boo, 2 thumbs down for AARP. What did AARP get promised? Something you can be sure.

On a great note. Right now, today, in Washington DC over 20,000 wonderful American's have gathered to protest the Health care bill. You probably won't hear about it on the news. But you will probably hear about the turncoats pinkies protesting for it. What their names? Code Pinko, maybe redcoats would be better names. Sigh. Check out all the "angry Mob". darn straight we are angry. There is a great sign someone was holding that says Silence is Consent. In this case its true.

Senior Bus Tour

l
Subject: Senior Bus Tour

A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of seniors down a highway when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady. She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.

After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she hands him another handful of peanuts.

She repeats this gesture about five more times.

When she is about to hand him another batch again ......he asks the little old lady, 'Why don't you eat the peanuts yourself?'.

'We can't chew them because we've got no teeth', she replied.

The puzzled driver asks, 'Why do you buy them then?'

The old lady replied, 'We just love the chocolate around them.'

More on Pelosi's Health Care Bill

Reading Guide to the Pelosi Health Care Reform Bill

Please read and forward the link to this note

Page 94-Section 202(c) prohibits the sale of private individual health insurance policies, beginning in 2013, forcing individuals to purchase coverage through the federal government

Page 110-Section 222(e) requires the use of federal dollars to fund abortions through the government-run health plan-and, if the Hyde Amendment were ever not renewed, would require the plan to fund elective abortions

Page 111-Section 223 establishes a new board of federal bureaucrats (the "Health Benefits Advisory Committee") to dictate the health plans that all individuals must purchase -and would likely require all Americans to subsidize and purchase plans that cover any abortion

Page 211-Section 321 establishes a new government-run health plan that, according to non-partisan actuaries at the Lewin Group, would cause as many as 114 million Americans to lose their existing coverage

Page 225-Section 330 permits-but does not require-Members of Congress to enroll in government-run health care

Page 255-Section 345 includes language requiring verification of income for individuals wishing to receive federal health care subsidies under the bill-while the bill includes a requirement for applicants to verify their citizenship, it does not include a similar requirement to verify applicants' identity, thus encouraging identity fraud for undocumented immigrants and others wishing to receive taxpayer-subsidized health benefits

Page 297-Section 501 imposes a 2.5 percent tax on all individuals who do not purchase "bureaucrat-approved" health insurance- the tax would apply on individuals with incomes under $250,000, thus breaking a central promise of then-Senator Obama's presidential campaign

Page 313-Section 512 imposes an 8 percent "tax on jobs" for firms that cannot afford to purchase "bureaucrat-approved" health coverage ; according to an analysis by Harvard Professor Kate Baicker, such a tax would place millions "at substantial risk of unemployment"-with minority workers losing their jobs at twice the rate of their white counterparts

Page 336-Section 551 imposes additional job-killing taxes, in the form of a half-trillion dollar "surcharge," more than half of which will hit small businesses ; according to a model developed by President Obama's senior economic advisor, such taxes could cost up to 5.5 million jobs

Page 520-Section 1161 cuts more than $150 billion from Medicare Advantage plans, potentially jeopardizing millions of seniors' existing coverage

Page 733-Section 1401 establishes a new Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research; the bill includes no provisions preventing the government-run health plan from using such research to deny access to life-saving treatments on cost grounds, similar to Britain's National Health Service, which denies patient treatments costing more than $35,000

Page 1174-Section 1802(b) includes provisions entitled "TAXES ON CERTAIN INSURANCE POLICIES" to fund comparative effectiveness research, breaking Speaker Pelosi's promise that "We will not be taxing [health] benefits in any bill that passes the House," and the President's promise not to raise taxes on families with incomes under $250,000

Wait wait, it gets worse. Read on..

A list of egregious, questionable, or potentially absurd proposals in the Pelosi Health Care legislation with page numbers and provisions in the 1,990-page health care bill:

Page 122—Section 233(a)(3) requires the Commissioner—the new insurance “czar”—to “issue guidance on best practices of plain language writing”—this from the same people who wrote a 1,990 page health care bill

Page 183—Section 305(a) gives the Commissioner the power to enlist “appropriate entities” like Planned Parenthood and ACORN to engage in “outreach to specific vulnerable populations” about the bill’s new programs

Page 216—Section 322(b)(3) prohibits “any federal funds for purposes of insolvency” from being directed toward the government-run health plan—an anti-bailout provision that may seem implausible given Democrats’ role in advancing legislation to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Page 872—Section 1433 requires the director of food services at nursing facilities participating in Medicare and Medicaid to hold “military, academic, or other qualifications” as determined by federal bureaucrats ( scary, what do they plan on putting in the food?)

Page 1067—Section 1729 requires States to cover incarcerated juveniles previously enrolled in Medicaid after their release “unless and until there is a determination that the individual is no longer eligible”

Page 1183—Section 1904 provides $750 million in federal funding for a new entitlement program to offer “knowledge of realistic expectations of age-appropriate child behaviors” and “skills [for parents] to interact with their child” WHAT!

Page 1255—Sections 2231-2235 make veterinary students eligible for up to $283 million in federal scholarship and student loan forgiveness funding

Page 1432—Section 2531 provides incentive payments to States that enact new medical liability laws—but only if such laws do “not limit attorneys’ fees or impose caps on damages”

Page 1515—Section 2572(b) imposes labeling requirements on all vending machines nationwide, in addition to new mandates by the federal government on all restaurants with more than 20 locations

Page 1925—Section 3101 creates a new program within the Indian Health Service to provide federal funding for “perpetrators of child sexual abuse who are Indian or members of an Indian household”

The 36 year feast

As I write Rick is grilling a porter house steak and jumbo shrimp on the grill. I cooked some sweet potatoes which we eat like baked potatoes with butter and pepper, mushrooms with garlic to top the steaks, Rick made beer bread earlier, asparagus steamed, a bottle of dark Zinfandel and pecan pie to finish it all up. Much better meal, and less expensive then if we ate out and just the two of us. Together still after all these years. Love is grand. And I have my perfect rose.

Zoey

The vet cleaned the area on Zoey hind leg. He thinks it might be a benign neoplasm or possibly a cyst. She did have a temp so they put her on a antibiotic and shaved the area. It really looks nasty now. She see's him in 2 weeks and if it is no better he will remove it. But, he doesn't think it is a malignant growth so we are happy about that. She was wonderful while there.. If I had grabbed clippers and tried to shave her leg she would have bolted under the bed and not budged. With the vet she just stands there. He looked in her mouth, eyes, ears, she just stands there. Such a good girl. He also doesn't think she looks near her age.

Escape From New York

Remember that old movie. I think I have found a solution for Obama and all the new out of the closets socialists. Obviously many in NY approve of the way our government is going. Not all of them though, there are some rational people there. But for the rest. Lets just fence them in and they can run their own little world and turn it to crap and the rest of us and live out here and continue with our lives and rights and freedom. They can tax themselves into poverty, except of course a the corrupt few, and not allow smoking, obesity, privacy, freedom, free thought. Yeah. It would work. I can see it. I mean I saw the movie. They must have seen this coming also. And they are so smug at first at least they will feel like the privileged to be able to stay there. So they will be happy, we will be happy, the world will be a better place. Such a nice thought.

Well today is the day. 36 years of marital bliss. I feel a good meal and a nice bottle of wine will be on the menu. I chose wisely..

Zoey

The last blooming flower I have in my flower beds, weird since they did so poorly the rest of the year.

At 3 Zoey is going to the vets. Somehow she knows and has been a nervous big clinging furball all day. I am nervous also so she probably senses that. Hopefully this latest lump will turn out to be just a cyst. Hope Hope Hope.

I have been watching the elections with interest today. Maybe people are starting to wake up. Keeping my fingers crossed.

You know, this just doesn't hurt our country. The USA has been historically generous during others countries natural and unnatural disasters. Who will help them now, who will help us?

Tomorrow Rick has the dubious honor of having been married to me for 36 years. Wow. Long time. We are not sure what we are going to do. Probably just go out and eat as it is suppose to be cold. I am trying, not very successfully to get my clock set for the night shift again. I managed to sleep until 7:30 today. I might has slept longer but Zoey woke me. I stayed up until midnight last night. Hoo Hoo, that is very hard for me these days, LOL.

Well, I have to fix my hair. It is getting so thin these days I am thinking about a comb over. Seriously, the women in my family don't go gray, we go bald. I would rather dye my hair then wear a wig. Sigh. Ta all, have a good one.

The way I see it.

The figures are out. For each and every clunker that was sold the taxpayers, (me) paid taxes of $24,000. Doesn't that just outrage you! It does me.

This is turning out worse then my worst nightmare. Everyday another thing. This government has surrounded itself with the most corrupt anti American people you can imagine. Never have we had a government before who was more intent on destroying our country then what we have now. And it makes me so mad.

Because if people had listened. Really listened they would have heard this coming. My grandchildren's future is totally screwed and that really angers me. We lost our freedom. Those people who trusted the government to do right by them. AARRGGGHHHHHHHH.

Even something as simple as a birth certificate. One of the people I work with voted for this man. She will admit she has only listened to him give a speech twice. She voted for her party. She hasn't paid any attention since the election. Thousands upon thousands of people fall in the group of "American Citizens". She said, oh come on, of course he has a birth certificate, you right wing crazy teaparty people you. Always trying to make him look bad.

A week later I told this person. "I hear you don't have a legal nursing license". "What, of course I do". "Here, I'll Show You! Saying I am not legal, well I never, and grabbing it out of the wallet proudly produced the license. See, I said. How simple that was. The argument is over. Why wouldn't you show the proof. Because you have it. And then I walked away.

I am not a angry person. I have never started a fight. Most people would call me easy going. But I am angry. I am so mad. Because everyday I see these people who sold our country down the river and they don't ever realize it yet. Because although we starting to feel the ripples they tsunami hasn't hit land yet. But is coming.

Question

How come with all of our new energy efficient bulbs and appliances these day, my energy bills have done nothing but rise? I was looking back over the last 3 years and they are higher then ever? I thought they were suppose to save me money and cost almost less then nothing to use.

Speaking of energy. Look at all the energy my son went to decorating his yard. Well, his roommate did, pretty cool. They had a ton of little trick and treaters. We don't get any out here. Sigh. It was a nice night for it though, no rain and warm in the 50's..

The joy of sleeping and my bed

I just got done washing all my linens today and getting my bed ready to keep me warm and toasty all winter.

I love sleeping. Maybe because I am usually short a couple of hours a day when I do get the chance to go to bed I am happy as a clam. Snuggled under my warm comforter with the fresh scent of the sheets I feel safe and calm. Usually I fall asleep before I even finish my meditations and drift off into a different world. I usually have fun dreams. It is one of the things I think I would really miss if I ever hit hard times.

I look at the homeless in our town and try to imagine what it must be like to not have that basic thing as a warm bed. As a child while we were on the run from my father I remember sleeping where ever we ended up that night and not being warm enough.

I fixed that these days. I have a wonderful pillow top mattress and a down filled pillow top on top of that. Lovely sheets and blankets galore. Thanks to my MIL I could put a new quilt on my day every day for at least 2 weeks. And I have a lovely thick comforter for the winter months with the softest blanket between the sheets and that. Soft scent of lavender in the air I love it. And I never take it for granted.

They say everyone is one disaster away from losing everything they own. Fire, tornado, major illness or accident. So I am grateful each and everyday for this. Just one thing I am grateful for but the one I decided to write about today. I don't want to take anything for granted. Because for many it is just a dream.
