Oh My, The news reads like a comic strip

The news has me laughing out loud this morning. First I read about the airport in California installing kiosks to sell you carbon credits so you won't be quilt ridden on your plane ride and then I read about Michelle Obama's trip to the farmer's market. Gee, how many carbon credits did it take for her to zip to the store and buy that fresh produce. I hope she stopped and purchased some carbon credits from ole Al Gore before she went.

Tell you what Californian's, ( yes I do know its not all of you). I will sell you all my carbon credits for less then you can buy in the airport. I will sell you my dogs and Ricks also. Since we live in the midwest we probably use less then you and have more to sell. Just send the check here or I do accept paypal.

And wasn't Michelle growing her own little organic garden in the back yard of the white house? Now we know how she got those arms. Pulling weeds, working the soil. Plucking those ripe tomatoes off the vine. Yeah right.

This carbon credit scam always reminds me of the Nigerian scams I was always subjected to when I had my business. Please Madam, let me buy this from you for 20,000 dollars more then it is worth so I can move some money out of huge estate my king father left me, you keep the change. And the carbon credit scam is legal. Only our government could pull something like this off. Give til it hurts, and then give some more Madam. Trust me.............

PT

My PT went well. I like the therapist. He was very gentle. As suggested I took a pain pill about a hour before and it went well. It wasn't scream out loud painful. He was impressed with how much range he could get. Me too. I can't lift my arm by myself though. Weak weak weak. But that will come. My muscles also wanted to spasm throughout the therapy but he says that is normal. So all in all, not a bad thing.

I am sore tonight though, he said I would be. Hopefully each day will get better. Isn't Zoey cute above. My nurse dog has been doing all she could to make me feel better. She is saying, I feel your pain. Right now she is laying at my feet. Ready to leap up and trip me whenever I move. Such a sweetie.

PT

This morning I was suppose to have PT at 10:30. I know how important it is to get started right away and also I am prone to adhesion's so I want to do everything I can to reduce that.

So I get a call that they had messed up and didn't realize I was seeing them after surgery, ( I did tell them it was for post op care) and they needed to make me a appointment with a PT and not a assistant. I thought I did have an appointment with the PT. They weren't sure if they would be able to get me in until next week. I told them that was not acceptable and if they couldn't get me in I would call my doc and get started with his therapists. I was actually suppose to start yesterday and why are they just calling me now?

So they just called back and now I am going at 1:30. I hate messing with this stuff when I am not completely myself. I haven't had anything for pain today but I still feel foggy. I hate feeling like I am working through a cotton cloud in my brain. Why can't pain medication make you feel better without making you feel like a zombie. I would rather have a little pain at this time then feel so dull so I am not going to take anything if I can help it.

Another thing with work comp. They send the checks here. So here you are, feeling like crap and you have to get dressed, go to the bank, go to work to pay your medical bills. All this stuff when your suppose to be resting and getting better. If I get the check I am suppose to get today. Last time I was on work comp it took over a month to get a check and then I went back to work a week later. Hope it goes better this time.

I was just thinking of all the people who used to post who don't anymore. Pam where are you? Deb, where are you? Where is everyone. I miss you. Are you OK? Sigh. Linda, how are you?

Crash and burn night

It always seems like I have one day when I just crash and burn. Usually following what was a good day. Today started out great. I was up at 6. Got washed up, dressed, did my exercises. Very little pain. Not bad at all. Tonight however I feel pretty crummy. I have terrible edema in my legs. My shoulder is really hurting tonight and I have a rash under my chin that itches terrible. I think it is from the block as it is only on my shoulder, neck and chin. Same place that was numb from the block.

Plus I am exhausted. Ran out of gas around 3 and never refilled. I don't think I over did it. Maybe it is just going to be my bad day. Maybe it is because of the exercises I am doing. I am suppose to be doing them also, it's not like I am doing too much.

My legs swell up fairly often but they have been pretty good lately. And being off my feet here lately they should be wonderful, not this huge and I have 3 + pitting edema to my knees. Trust me, that is way to much. Probably from the IV's I got. And I have a cold sore on my bottom lip. Poor me. Whine whine. Sigh.

Oh well, still all in all it hasn't been as bad as I expected. Hopefully it won't get worse. And for now I guess I had better restrict my fluids for awhile until the swelling goes away. And get my ice pack on, sit and watch a movie and take a pain pill. The good thing about tonight? Rick made me blackened trout, wild rice and corn. Yummy.

Well, time to go zone out with better living through drugs. See ya tomorrow.

Day 3

Today was a good day because I got to take the big dressing off. I swear they taped my arm shut. I have such sensitive skin the tape left burns all around where it hit my skin. Now I just have band aides on the 3 little incisions. I have some bruising and swelling but it looks much better then it feels. All the pain is in the joint.

I got all washed up and dressed today in something besides my nightgown. And I haven't needed anything for pain since last night. Which is good. My head is clearing up some. I might feel up to the art fair on Saturday after all. I went outside just a little bit ago though to get some photo's and was pretty wobbly yet. It takes me at least 3 days to get all the drugs out of my system usually from surgery. And from the way my shoulder feels when I do have to move it I know for sure PT is going to hurt like...... well you know. They told me to take a pain pill about a hour before I go and I think that will be a great idea.

Another weird thing is this zipping kind of numb zing that goes through my shoulder every once in awhile. Do you get that Marie?

When I was in the recovery room and getting the spasms real bad I did my breathing exercises which worked well. The nurse said they should teach all the patients how to meditate as it really helped me relax and breath through the pain. Meditation has helped me through all my surgeries. Just the deep breathing and relaxing your muscles alone helps plus keeping you calm when you just want to leap off the table and bolt from the room. Man, when I saw the size of the needle and syringe for my block I was sure tempted to run. Wait, Wait, I change my mind.

Well, this is about all the typing I can do. I have been enjoying watching ACORN getting busted right and left. Gee what a surprise. They really are what we suspected them to be. Our president keeps some pretty shady characters for company. Does he have any acquaintances that aren't crooked?

Day 2 and all is well

rapist.jpg

see more Fail Blog Funny photo's. This one struck me as a hoot.

I slept in my bed last night instead of the recliner. And most of the meds from anesthesia are out of my body. That alone makes me feel better. The pain is better also. I might be able to switch to tylenol plain.

I have my arm in a sling which is bothering my neck but all in all, not bad. Of course moving my shoulder hurts a lot but since I am not suppose to do much with it that's fine. Tomorrow I get to take this big dressing off and put band aides on the incisions. Which is a good thing since the tape is bothering me big time. And from what I can see my shoulder is one big bruise.

Another thing, my back is hurting. Probably from the hard tables. And I want to take a shower today. Rick is going to cover the dressing with saran wrap.

My throat is sore today from the tube. Hummmm, lets see, that about wraps it up. I imagine the worse is over until I start my PT and then that's when the real pain starts. But I can handle it. Super woman.

All Done

And hurting. The block didn't work unfortunately and I woke up having terrible muscle spasm's. Which made my blood pressure get so high they had to give me labetalol IV. I usual run a low pressure. And they gave me morphine which dropped my oxygen so they had to mess with that. Can't do it the easy way, LOL.

They ddn't have to fix any of the tears, yes there were more then one but only partials, but my bursa sac was frayed and they fixed the spur.

I start PT Friday. Oh...and they gave me percocet so my pain is manageable. yippy.

My shoulder creaks when I move it, 55, ain't it grand. Thanks for the lovely birthday wishes and emails and thanks for the prayers. I am so glad it is over.

Well, this is difficult so ta ta for now. Happy Birthday Karen a day late.

Your Horoscope for Monday, September 14th

What is said and what is felt may not at all be the same today, so watch out for inner contradictions coming from those around you. Be careful what you sign today as intentions and reality may not be on the same page. It's a better time for trying to conclude things than for starting new ones.

And Happy Birthday to Karen and her son. We all share the same birthday.

On this day 55 years ago at 9:16 in the morning I was born weighing in at 9 pounds 4 ounces. It seems like just yesterday.

And yesterday my oldest son had us over for a cookout which was a surprise and they had a heavenly double chocolate fudge cake. Death by chocolate.. Yummy.

I did some cleaning yesterday and dusting, got my sheets changed on the bed, clothes washed. And I slept well.

This morning I am up bright eyed and bushing tailed. Wishing I could have a cup of coffee. Really wishing I could have a cup of coffee. Plus my tooth hurts and I wish I could have a couple of tylenol. It would probably be Ok but I will wait. Soon I will get ready to go see the skin doc which will pass some time and then at noon the hospital. The day is here.

I have definately had better birthday plans. And I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and email cards. Loved it.

You know. I never heard from either of my sisters or my brother. The sister I was close to I haven't spoken to for over a year now. I did think about calling her but one of the reasons she won't talk to me is because she says I never call unless it is bad news. Sheesh.. Poor thing. Interupting her perfect little life in paradise with news from the family. My husband has strict instructions to not let her know if anything happens to me.

Anyway, enough of that. I am mentally preparing myself for the surgery. I want to stay calm. centered. Time to get this shoulder fixed and get back to work.

I am not sure when I will be able to post again but thanks again for all the prayers. I will hold them close today.
