This and That

Rush Limbaugh had an interesting call yesterday. A member of the Family Workers Party, formally known as the Communist workers party, called to defend President Obama. Now that says something doesn't it. Hummmmmmmm.

I got lots done yesterday. Cleaned my closet and have a huge box of clothes to give away. Then while I was on a row went through our old papers and bills and shredded them. How long are you suppose to hang onto old bills? To me when they are paid in full, toss, to Rick, when they are 7 years old look at them and put them back in the drawer. I just love getting my hands, and shredder, on them. I am on a goal. Tame the pack rat I married. Don't fall into his bad habits.

Then we went out to eat. There was a table of young professional men at the table next to us being rude and crude. Every other word was F this and F that. Talking about hookers and sex shows in loud drunk voices. When your out in public is this really the way you want people to view you. What a bunch of louts. I wouldn't hire a single one of them, I don't care how great their resume is. I look at Rick and am glad he isn't one of those loud braggarts with a foul mouth. Course I wouldn't have married him. The image they portrayed was one of poor class and poorer taste. You would think in a public restaurant they would think about the fact some of the customers might be future clients. Like me. I am going to be getting a lawyer soon for my will. It won't be from that group.

I start work again tonight. My wrist is acting up from all the cleaning yesterday and I see the doc on Monday to see if there is any help for it or if I have to adjust to a higher pain level. We are getting ready to run some chores and I want to pick up some kitty food for a stray that have moved to the cave that is under our old van. It has a small little opening dug in the snow to get under the van. I have no idea what it could possibly be eating but whats one more stray to feed.

Well, ta all. Be safe and have fun.

Excellent article

This is a great article and one that so many people want to just ignore. But don't. Check this article out. Down from Slavery

As the week turns

My week off always goes so much faster then my week at work, what's up with that? It's not like I have done any productive things while I was off. I did get my broken tooth fixed. And it didn't hurt, love my dentist. Plus he smoothed down the front tooth I chipped so no rough edges anymore. No more opening beer bottles with my teeth.......just kidding.

The other day we did a flea market crawl and visited several. I am picky and looking for something in particular so I didn't get anything until the last shop where I found a small McCoy vase in a pattern I collect for a very cheap price and in perfect condition. Its the little things that make you happy.

Then I read a couple of books. One is called The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Very sad and depressing. I am going to have to dig out my Erma Bombeck books to even it out. No matter how many times I read her books they make me laugh.

Yesterday Rick made supper and made some mashed potatoes. A friend of ours gave us some home grown Yukon gold potatoes and this recipe to try. Worlds best mashed potatoes he said. So Rick was cooking Ribs and decided to make these potatoes. Supper was great and the potatoes yummy, a little sticky but good and good flavor. Steamed broccoli topped it off. So I am cleaning up and asked Rick how much cream cheese was left. Whoops, forgot to add that ingredient, LOL. Rick is better at just tossing in ingredients then following a recipe. But I will add the recipe and if anyone makes it correctly let me know how it turned out.

Best Homemade Mashed potatoes.

3 lbs of Yukon gold potatoes
2 tsp salt, divided
1/3 c butter
1/3 c half and half
4 oz cream cheese softened
1/4 tsp coarsely ground pepper, (fresh is better)

Peel potatoes and cut into 1 inch pieces. Bring potatoes, i tsp salt, and cold water to a boil in a medium-size Dutch oven. Reduce heat to medium low and cook 16 to 20 minutes or until fork-tender; drain.

Return potatoes to dutch oven. Cook until water evaporates and potatoes look dry. Mound potatoes on 1 side; add butter, next 3 ingredients, and remaining salt to opposite side of dutch oven. Cook 1 to 2 minutes or until butter is melted and mixture boils.

Remove from heat; beat a a medium speed with a hand held mixer 30 seconds to 1 minute to desired degree of smoothness. Do not overbeat, serve immediately. Or you can mash them with your potato masher which would be less messy if your husband who rarely if ever has used a mixer is making them and takes it out of the potatoes with the blades still turning and manages to hit almost every square inch of your kitchen with mashed potatoes. a ricer would work great also and I love it for mashed potatoes.

We cut the recipe in half as the recipe is for 6. So anyway, let me know if anyone makes this.

Today is my last day off. I am going to try some shots again as I am doing a photo challenge. I have been wearing my brace almost all the time and my wrist is better as long as I don't use it or move it. I see the doc next week. And no more dizzy spells. Good. So after I get all my clothes ready for goodwell so I feel I have been productive I am going to play the rest of the day.

Oh, Zoey is going to be 11 on the 26th. At least that is the day we gave her when we got here. Since we adopted her from the humane society it is just a guess but they said she was 9 weeks when we got her and this is what we use as her birthday. Her glucosamine has helped her immensely. The fish oil has made her coat just so soft and shine so wonderfully. She looks the picture of health. I don't think she has lost any weight though. Rick is just hard to convince the portions need to be smaller. And mine.

So thats that. One thing I want to mention. I can't believe our government hasn't stepped in and done anything about getting the missionaries out. In Haiti your guilty when charged. And treated that way. They are being treated terribly, not enough medicines, laying on the floor, and I wonder if they are being held until the proper bribe is paid from what I hear about the corruptness of some of the officials. And some of our own, The Washington Post is treating them as guilty without a trial along with being racist at the same time. Why is this being turned into a racial thing again. Can't it just be people wanting to help people! I hate hate hate the race card.

Bring them home and let them stand trial here. They have seen no one from the American Embassy. We are doing nothing to help them. We let a terrorist be tried here but we can't bring our own citizens here for the same treatment. Where is Hiliary Clinton? Bring them home.

Billie Holiday

The snow is snowing
The wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm
Why do I care how much it may storm
I've got my love to keep me warm

I can't remember
A worse December
Just watch those icicles from
Why do I care if icicles form
I've got my love to keep me warm

Off with my overcoat
Off with gloves
I need no overcoat
I'm burning with love

My heart's on fire
The flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm
Why do I care how much it may storm
I've got my love to keep me warm

It all sounds so Innocent

Unless you know your history. If you were fortunate to be taught in the years where they really taught history these types of things will raise alarms bells to you.

Students in a class being invited to join Organizing For America and being told what books should be read such as Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" and Organizing for America's mission to build on the "movement that elected President Obama by empowering students across the country to help us bring about our agenda of change.

It just gives me chills up my spine. The school as apologized but won't say if any action was taken. Do you know what your kids are reading or learning in school these day?

I'm so Dizzy

My head was spinning.

Yesterday we went out so I could get some photos of the snow. I wanted these berries I had seen, but none of those shots turned out to my satisfaction. I was taking one shot when all of a sudden I got slammed with a dizzy spell. The world was spinning and I couldn't see straight. I sat back in my seat and Rick asked me if I was OK. No, I said. Do you need to go to the hospital? Yes..... maybe. My stomach was getting weird, my tongue was numb, I still couldn't see straight. Are you having a stroke? Maybe, I don't know. I'm frightened. Slowly though the world righted itself and I started to feel better. I seriously thought I was getting ready to die at that time. Very scary and weird. I have been dizzy before but never like that.

It put a damper on shooting so I packed it up for the day and we went out to eat. In the back of my head a little nagging worry it might come back but it didn't. Rest of the day went fine and I am fine this morning. So that was really weird. The doc did say my symptoms sound like neck, maybe that caused it? Whatever hope it doesn't come back again.

This morning it is........ snowing again. Still....... What a surprise. Fortunately it has been warm and it isn't piling up to bad. So tell me. Anyone get a spell like that and what was it if you ever found out. I was kindof worried about a TIA.
