A-fib

We went out tonight to enjoy the comedy club and just relax. Rick had been crumpy and ornery all day. Finally at the restaurant after 2 Margareta's he admitted that he might be in A-fib again. Crap. How long has it been? 2 years? Checking his pulse I could tell it was irregular and fast. Guessing the rate as 160 or higher. Bummer.

How do you feel dear? Do you want to go to the hospital? Silly question as I knew he wouldn't go. I knew it was too good to last. After his ablation he was doing so well and felt so good. I hoped it would last as I knew I would never get him in to get checked again. And I was right. So off to the comedy club we went.

It was a really good time. A couple of nurses I know from work showed up and we kept a close eye on the fibbing one all night. Around 10 he converted to ST. Fast but regular. Feeling good but upset that I had kept him on water all night long.

I am so upset it is starting all over again. Worried because he won't go in to be seen because of the cost. So it sits on my shoulders. ASA every day. Increase the dose from 81 to full strength and trying to keep him calm. The laughing was very good for us both tonight.....

Some of the Flowers

I took several photo's today of the flowers around the yard. Here are some of them. I have a couple I might enter in the challenge but I have a few days yet to see if there is something special. If you click on the photo's it will make them full size, so much prettier that way.
The African daisy's are doing very well and are so pretty.

Surrounding the house in the woods are all these purple wild flowers. They smell so wonderful.

My iris's are blooming.

These little mini wave petunia's are doing very well and are so pretty.
I just got done watering as you can tell.

Off for the week

Work was busy so I am grateful to be off. Tuesday I woke up with a throbbing tooth. The dentist got me right in and today I see the dentist that fixes roots. I won't get the root canal today, just the exam. But I started on antibiotics so although the pain is now centered in my jaw my face hasn't swollen up much and I can live with it. Why the jaw hurts I don't know. Course Rick in his usual pessimistic way assured me my cancer was back and in my jaw..... gee thanks Rick for instilling that small but nagging thought in my mind. Sheesh. When I first got the cancer there he read that if it spreads it can go to the parotid gland and the bones so he has been on the look out, LOL. I reminded him..... Clean margin. I was surprised actually that he is still worried about it.

Now it is later in the day and I have seen the specialist. My roots look OK so that's not the problem. And he also says if it doesn't settle down with the antibiotics and motrin I should see my regular doc. To make sure the cancer hadn't spread. Think he has been talking to my hubby, LOL. I think I must have bitten down on something wrong. My jaw still is a little sore. But I am not worried about the cancer being back. Sheesh, always something.

It is suppose to be wonderful out today and I am off. I want to ride the bike and get some new pictures. Then tonight we are going to the comedy show. I think it will be the last one until this fall. It should be fun. Plus, the community photo challenge is flowers and I have a few shots I want to get. The woods are full of purple flowers. The other day the sun was going down and in there were 2 deer standing chest deep among the flowers with the sun filtering between the trees and playing on their backs. It would have made a great shot but I was running late for work. So today I hope they come back so I can get the shot. Since they are here everyday it shouldn't be difficult but getting the light right, that could be the problem.

Taps

Subject: Taps

If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which taps was played; this brings out a new meaning of it.

Here is something Every American should know. Until I read this, I didn't know, but I checked it out and it's true:

We in the United States have all heard the haunting song, 'Taps.' It's the song that gives us the lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes.

But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will be interested to find out about its humble beginnings.

Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe was with his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia . The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land.

During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment.

When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.

The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army.

The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted.

The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral.

The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate.

But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician.

The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform.

This wish was granted.

The haunting melody, we now know as 'Taps' used at military funerals was born.

The words are:

Day is done.
Gone the sun.
From the lakes
From the hills.
From the sky.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh.

Fading light.
Dims the sight.
And a star.
Gems the sky.
Gleaming bright.
From afar.
Drawing nigh.
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise.
For our days.
Neath the sun
Neath the stars.
Neath the sky
As we go.
This we know.
God is nigh

I too have felt the chills while listening to 'Taps' but I have never seen all the words to the song until now. I didn't even know there was more than one verse . I also never knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if you had either so I thought I'd pass it along.

I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did before.

Remember Those Lost and Harmed While Serving Their Country.

Also Remember Those Who Have Served And Returned; and for those presently serving in the Armed Forces.

New Blog

In the AOL days I had a private blog just for getting things off my chest, my rants and raves. Not political, just things I needed to write about so it didn't stay bottled up. Surprising how that helps sometimes. Anyway. It isn't always about sweet things. Sometimes like today it is about ugly hard to understand things. So consider yourself warned. But if your interested in reading drop me a line.
