After the flood

Rick and I went down to the river to see what it looks like since the water went down and to check out the bike trials.

You can see in this photo where the water level was, it bleaches out all the wood.
At Bev's on the River the bank has collapsed.

Rick and I were sad to see our bike trail was not only covered by water,  it was destroyed.   We won't be riding this trail again.

The cleanup will take months.

When I was growing up the banks of the river looked like this,  sand dunes.  Then they developed it and made beautiful walking trails and bike trails,  now the river has reclaimed it.

Scenic Park in South Sioux City is busy cleaning up the hundreds of dead cotton wood trees,  we have thousands of dead trees all up and down the river.   The trees couldn't survive 2 and a half months under water.
This intersection finally opened,  you can see where the water was.

The playground equipment was stripped of its paint.

There is debris all over the river banks.

Our marina is silted in and might not be able to be opened again.

My zoom lens didn't do such a great job but you can see the damage.

More water level.

I wonder how many miles this debris  traveled.

Rick is standing on the bike trail where the water reached it's highest.
