It has been a interesting few days at work for sure. I am taking care of isolation patients which has proved a challenge with my cast on.
First I cut a baggy apart and slip it over my cast and tape it into place. Then I have X large gloves that I put on top. That part isn't the problem. It's the gowns. We have nylon isolation gowns. They used to be paper gowns which would have, in my case, been much better. Anyway. I put the gown on and the sleeve doesn't want to go over my cast. The first time I forced it a little and got it on. Problem came when I tried to get it off. It wouldn't budge. With a friend pulling with all her might on the gown and me holding onto to the cast and my arm we did a tug of war. What a site we must have looked, LOL. Just when we decided we were going to have to cut it off it started to work its way down and I got it off. Rest of the week I have been just letting the arm hang low and putting the gloves over that.
2 days. I am counting down til the cast comes off. Oh happy days. And I see the doc and find out what his plan is. It had better not involve another cast.
I had great patients but unfortunately my back went out day one so I have been hampered by that. Maybe all that jerking trying to get the gown off. Tonight, I only work 11.5 hours. Daylight savings time. Of course our computers are going to be down for 3 hours so that will be a pain but a short night. You can't imagine what a difference one hour makes.
When I got home this morning their were about 50 turkeys in the yard. I haven't seen any all winter. A couple were limping but all in all they looked healthy. They were busy ridding the feeders of any bird seed.
It has been long enough now I can say we probably lost one of the baby deer. I have not seen it with the mother or other baby for over a month. Hard to say what happened. May have gotten poached or sick and died or hit by a car.
Well. Time to wash my brussel spouts and get them ready for supper and then wash up myself. Ta

I hope you can soon be rid of the cast Julie. 50 turkeys? That's a lot! I hope the night wasn't too long with the extra hour added on, ours don't go forward till the end of the month. Jeannette xx
My that's a lot of turkeys!
Poor little deer...what a shame if it has succumbed to the winter or a motorcar.
I'm sure you will be over the moon to have your cast removed for good.
Fingers and toes crossed!
Look after your back and try not to wear those gowns again.
Hugs

I hope your back got ok after all that tugging with the gown. Glad that your cast got to come off. Sorry to hear about the other deer. It was a harsh winter for it to get through even if something else didn't happen to it. Bet those turkeys and deer is glad that the weather is so much better. Helen
