Our company just left. We had a fun visit, played some cards and they left me some See's candy, yummy. Since my diet is still just in the planning stage I ate a piece.
It went OK sleeping with them here. I have one of those things that makes ocean sounds etc.... White noise they call it. I use it to help block out the rest of the day noise. I was just miserable when I got home from work so I took a pain pill, a sleeping pill, turned that thing on and slept pretty good. However. I didn't make it to work that night. My shoulder is much worse and now my other shoulder is hurting. It is not good to lift with just one arm. You mess yourself up. I don't want to be messed up permanently and I don't want the other shoulder going out on me.
I told the work comp lady that it was a impossible situation. We were short all weekend. If they actually know what a nurse does they would know it can't be done with one arm. They said they would count it as a call in since I didn't come in, so be it. I do have a good lawyer. If they insist I work with this injury I got there they should also insure I don't injure myself further and keep us staffed well. I'll do my part if they do theirs.
Tomorrow I see the doc. Today I am off. I have found that ice works the best on my shoulder for keeping the pain down so I have been using that alot. Another thing, my wrist isn't working quite as well as I hoped it would. It will take time but I have to make sure and do my exercises or I can tell I will lose some function in it. Sometimes I wish I could take my doc's advice and cut down at work or retire. Someday. I would miss it though. I have decided however that I need to start looking for a different position that doesn't involve as much lifting. It is just getting to be to much for. Hate to admit it, but it is true.
Today the weather is beautiful. It has been nice all week. I don't see anything green yet but it will only be a matter of time. I had 17 turkeys in the back yard and about 6 deer. Spring is here.
Oh, I got some news on my BIL. He still lives in town in one of those little hotels they rent by the week. He lost his driving license for a DUI. Not surprising. I wondered why the car was always sitting there. He talks to his cousin who says he is still drinking a lot. Sad. Now he has to hire a lawyer and try and get his driving back if he is ever going to leave town. Our relatives didn't want to call him or visit him if he is still drinking so they never looked him up. So sad he has turned all his family agains't him. I think I am the only one who worries about him and then I think it is just the nurse in me. Can't help myself.
Well, I can't type much, it just kills my arm for some reason. It is now burning all the way down my arm and into my hand. At work I had 2 patient's I walked that had a history of passing out. I kept them on my good side but it makes me nervous. What if they started to pass out. I would try and catch them and finish tearing the muscle completely. No way would I let them fall. But those things happen. I can't wait until I am healed up and don't have to worry about things like that.
I will visit everyone's journals. I got behind with work and company. Hope your all enjoying this wonderful weather like we are.

I was just talking to the nurse at my doctor's office and she was also the nurse that took care of my in the ICU and I asked her what she was doing at my doctor's office doing charts and she told me she was getting to old to lift patients and wanted something easier. I can't believe what you nurses go through. I have a better appreciation and respect for nurses. You all work so hard. Take care of your arm and wrist. Hugs
I laughed at your first sentence only because a friend just sent me an email that said: Our economy just left. I almost thought you wrote the same thing ;p.
< Didn't think it could be done with one arm.....
I am very glad you have today off.
Why does nothing about the bil surprise me?
Glad that you enjoyed your company and glad that you could sleep. I hope you find out something positive at the Doc's office. Helen
