Doc Visit

I saw the ortho doc. What a nice man and very good looking. His mother was a nurse so he knows the work nurses do. That helps a lot.

I have a bone spur which he saids is also helping to keep the shoulder irritated. It is above the tear. When I move the arm it hits the spur and keeps it irritated. We will never know if the tear happened when I moved the patient or just got irritated when I moved the patient. Possibly I had it. Either way he says it takes a good 6 months to recover. If no improvement by then surgery. 3 months to go. Hopefully it will recover.

He is giving me celebrex again which is a anti-inflamitory. I didn't notice any relief when I was on it before but I will try anything. And I got a steroid shot in my shoulder. Although it wasn't as bad as when I got it in my wrist if I never ever get another one that would be just fine with me. Ouch. It takes about 3 to 6 days to get relief so keep your fingers crossed. Oh to be pain free, what a great thing that would be. And I start PT again, but he wants me with his therapists.

So better news I think. He also said if they won't work with me on my restrictions at work, absolutely no lifting with this arm he is going to take me off work. It will not heal if I have to use it. And recovery from shoulder surgery is major time off work. I do not want surgery so they had better find something for me to do. I told him about working short all weekend and the type of patients they gave me and he got ticked. I like this man.

So anyway. I have ice on my shoulder, by next Thursday hopefully I will be pain free or better and life is good.

It is nice out but getting ready to rain. Looks like a good day to curl up with a book. He did say if bike riding didn't hurt my arm I could do it and I can start going to gym, but just don't use any arm machines. Time to get in shape for the bike trails.

Well, take care all and have a great weekend.

Glad that you got a good doc. I hope the meds and that shot helps plus the exercises. Helen

I hope the hospital works with you. Follow his orders so you won't be dealing with this your whole life. Be careful!

How nice to find a sympathetic doctor, I do hope your hospital will take note of his advice or they're going to lose you for a while. I was given Celebrex last year and it caused my face to blow up like a football overnight! It was quite scary when I looked in the mirror the next morning! I hope the pain injection works soon too.
