I have to work hopefully only 4.5 hours tonight and then am off. They can mandate me to work but I am hopeful they won't. The hospital is however pretty full. We shall see. My son has been mandated to work all week. He doesn't get a day off until Saturday. I feel sorry for him but he is practical. He is just glad to have a good job and says the paycheck will be nice. He has been paying extra on his house payment and is a hard worker like his mom. Both my son's are.

I hope my graphics works. I can never tell until I actually publish the post if they will work. Why some do and others don't I don't know. A mystery. I popped out of bed today and got my some hors d'oeuvres ready for tomorrow. I wrapped the pickles with cream cheese and dried beef and then sliced them. My sons both love them and they are easy so right up my alley. Yesterday I made a swirled pumpkin cheesecake. I have my dressing stuff all ready and just have to mix. We are cooking the meal at my sons.

Last year at this time I had taken a leave of absence from work to care for my MIL. We didn't do a thanksgiving meal as she was very ill and we did not feel up to it. This year marks so many firsts. First without my MIL with us. Maybe it will help having it at the home we always at it at. Maybe it will be bittersweet. We give thanks for having her for 86 years. Miss you Mom.

I have a cold. This looks to be one of those years when I just get over one thing and pick up something else. One year I swear I was ill for 3 months. I haven't gotten my flu shot yet because you have to be well to get it and I have had some sort of crud for days and weeks. I am popping vitamins C and zinc and whatever else I think may help but I mostly seem to be popping tylenol for aches and pains and low laying fever. It could be worse.

So I am going to go and finish up supper. I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. In these trying times I have so much to be thankful. My prayers are going out to the hostages in India. May God help them all as it looks like American and British citizens are being targeted. Why can't everyone get along. We are all human. On that note a hymn I sang every Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember singing.
Peace and love from my corner of the world to yours.
We Gather Together
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Amen --Traditional Thanksgiving Hymn
(A translation by Theodore Baker: 1851-1934)

I have been fighting some sort of germs all week....short of breath, a slight cough, stuffy head, runny nose, sore throat...nothing MAJOR, just annoying and...BLAH. Hope you have a wonderful time at your son's house tomorrow.
((hugs))

I think it's nice that you are having Thanksgiving at your MIL's house. I think it will be bittersweet but she would approve.
I had a year where I didn't get my flu shot until almost Jan because I always had some crud. Hope you get better soon. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you have a good holiday and that you feel better soon!

I hope you feel better soon Julie. You really need that flu shot in your line of work. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day with your loved one. Hugs, Helen
Have a lovely day and Happy Thanksgiving. Love Joan
I'm sure you will enjoy your Thanksgiving at Betty's..her memories will still surround you all as a family. It is nice to keep up traditions even if some of the faces fade into the afterlife. Do you still make those special recipe sausages of hers? Somewhere in my mind I remember rollmops or fish which she once made too that was unique to her.
She still lives, in part in me, because you loved her and talked of her often. I got to know her through you. So how could she not stay around you all at a time like this.
Enjoy your holiday my friend. Make the most of it and make more loving memories too.
Hugs
Jeanie xx
