Rant

My husband heard a little blib about how the government is thinking one way to bail out the banks etc is to start taxing our 401's and IRA's. He only heard a small thing on it and hasn't hear anything else, but if the talks out there it is probably being discussed.

That just ticks me off. We had it crammed down our throats about how Social Security wasn't going to be there for us and we had to all start be pro-active about saving for our retirement. Invest invest invest and save. So we all get scared and put money in our IRA's, buy stock and become mini stock brokers so what. Our government can steal that money from us also like they stole our Social Security money! Money that if they would have left untouched, because remember...we pay into it our entire lifes, we would all be able to retire and live the good life.

Since when did we become a country that survived on loans. Is the reason we can help out countries that are in trouble because they are calling in their loans on us? We borrow money from them, they borrow money from us and where does it come from. Like people who borrow money for the expensive house they have no possible way to pay for our country and others borrow money they don't have. So they steal it from us. Those of us who work every day and whose only dream is to put a little aside and have enough to not starve when they retire.

This whole thing makes me sick. This is not what we have a government for. Both sides are screwing the people they were elected to protect. Taxing us more is not the answer. Maybe a new party would be. One that puts the people first.

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH. I am just ticked. Now also my health insurance at work is going to double and triple their out of pocket expenses for the employee's. It is like a huge cut in pay. I won't be able to afford to go to a doctor unless I am on my death bed.

This is another thing that was great that the government and insurance companies have completely destroyed. We had the best health care in the world and then they let the insurance companies run it. They let them decide what you could and could not have done to you and how much time it would take you to recover. The costs have skyrocketed since DRG's and you no longer have a family doctor who knows you and can give you more then 5 minutes of their time to treat and diagnose you. And that is a very scary thing.

This nurse who just spend 12.5 hours with you know more about your illness and physical condition then your doctor will from their 5 minute hands off approach they are allowed by the insurance companies. The doctors are required to run people through like on a assembly line. So they order thousands of dollars worth of lab and the costs go higher and higher. To even see my doctor is rare. I see the PA or one of the 12 other doctors in the office. So they don't get to know you and the ball gets dropped on tests and follow up one doctor made you promise to do. You get sick of the run around and lack of care and concern and don't go anymore. And then your labeled non-compliant.

The old doctors grew fed up and some I know left the field, but the new Doctors think it is the norm. To young to remember the Doctor offices of old with your Doctor, a nurse or 2 and the receptionist at the desk.

So boy. Didn't I get off work in a swell mood. I am just sick over the way things are going. A election isn't going to fix this mess. There is a good chance it will make it worse. Brother can you spare a dime.

Well, I have been up 15.5 hours. Time for bed. Maybe I won't feel so much like chicken little when I wake up. Maybe the sky isn't falling.

I sure hope our 401k's are not taxed. We're losing enough money in them with the stock market crap. UGH! I agree, the election is not going to fix our economy!

Preaching to the choir, sister! I'm so sick of this financial crap. Let the people who ruined it pay for it. ::Sigh:: Hey didn't mean to leave you out the other day when asking how the economy is affecting healthcare. Little brain fart there, lol. Hope you get some good sleep. I gotta work tonight so I'm hitting the sack.

Julie, I feel the same way you do. I want so much to ask my mom how things were right before the Depression hit because she was 20 but I'm scared to. I just can't believe they want to tax IRA's.

And the medical and health care in this country...grrrr...that is my total pet peeve. I pay over $400 a month for my Blue Cross/Blue Shielf with a huge deductible that covers less and less and has so much out of pocket expense I could scream. My youngest will have zippo insurance after December. I absolutely hate the fact that there are hardworking folks right here in our blogger community who cannot afford to keep their health insurance and go without. WTH kind of country is this? Hospitals turning people away...ugh. My oldest was encouraged not to go into pre-med because the state of the doctor sitution was just beginning when she went to college. Where does it all end?

LOL....my rant along with yours. HUGS

As a former U.S. Army medic, I can assure you that it takes one hell of a good nurse to explain to Dr. Five Minutes exactly what's going on so he doesn't look incompetant.

It's the strangest thing, I go looking for any small mom and pop place i can find...diner, hardware store, drug store...and I try to give them my business. Why? Because i'm so sick of the bs these days. They remind me of simpler time, a gentler time. It won't fix the enconomy but it puts my money somewhere it will be appreciated instead of in a huge conglomerate that just gets greedy for more.

The only good thing that came out of this year is we paid off our house. It's hopefully the one thing that CAN'T be taken from us.

As for the mess on WallStreet, I'm in the old school thinking. You sleep in the bed you made. If it's uncomfortable and needs repairing do it. Don't expect someone else to sleep in that bed because you won't. In short they made the mess, let them clean it up. (Hugs) Indigo

P.S. May depend on the day you try to get in your blog. If it's a time when everyone else might be trying to get on, it creates high traffic and upload is slower. (Hugs)Indy
