We walked along the river in the low moonlight. It was cool and the air had that fall crispness that is good to breath. We shared a vanilla cigar which we enjoy occasionally. After about 3 miles we returned to the van. These are the type of nights I relish. The reason why we have stayed married for 35 years.
I hope everyone had a safe Halloween last night. We drove around so I got to see some spooks and princesses out and about. They were so cute. The home to watch a movie and retire early.

I don't understand it. I can work all night but on my days off I go to bed around 9 and am up at 6 or so.

It is suppose to be nice today so I am going out hunting for some shots to take. With my new macro lens I shouldn't have to go far. I am going to check and see if the snow geese are here yet. May have to drive out of town.

Monday is our 35 year anniversary. We want to do something special, maybe stay up until 11! We haven't decided yet. I already had a ton of flowers he has bought me so really don't need anything. We are thinking about getting some new bands since ours are getting pretty thin.

Last night we ate at Olive Garden. It was our first time there. Pretty pricey but the food was good.

You know your from Iowa if

During a storm you check the livestock before you check the kids

You're related to half the town

Your car breaks down outside of town and news of it reaches back to town before you do.

You don't put too much effort into hairstyles due to wind and weather.

There's a tornado warning and the whole town is outside watching for it

The local gas station sells life bait

You don't buy all your fresh vegetables at the local grocery store

You get up at 5:30 am and go down to the coffee shop

You're on a first name basis with the county sher

"Little Smokies" are something you serve on special occasions

You drink pop rather then soda

Using the elevator involves either a trip to town with a grain truck or staying home with a load of bales.

Weather is 80% of your conversation

You know more then one person who has hit a deer

You know who to spell and pronounce "Des Moines"

You know the answer to the questions, "Is this Heaven?"

You carry jumper cables in your car

When people say they going out for dinner or supper, you know which meal they are talking about.

You give directions by north, south, east and west, rather then right and left

You measure distance by miles rather then minutes

You know what I-29, I-80, and I-35

You know at least tow definitions for a 'tassel.'

You say 'you bet' in conversation.

You know the connection between the state basketball tournament, St. Patrick's Day and a blizzard.

When driving down the road,m you wave at everyone with your index finger

Last Will and Testament of a Farmer

I Leave:
To my wife: My overdraft at the bank, maybe she can explain it.

To my son: Equity on my car. Now he will have to work to meet the payments.

To my Banker: My soul. He has the mortgage on it anyway.

To my neighbor: My clown suit. He will need it if he continues to farm as he has in the past.

To the farm credit Corporation: My unpaid bills. They took some real chances on me. I want to do something for them.

To the junk man: All my machinery. He's had his eyes on it for years.

To my undertaker: A special request. I want six implement dealers and six fertilizer dealers for pallbearers. They are used to carrying me.

To the weatherman: Rain, hail and snow for funeral please. No sense having good weather now.

To the grave digger: Don't bother. The hole I'm in now should be big enough.

And lastly to the monument maker: Set up a jig for the epitaph. " Here lies a farmer who has now properly assumed all of his obligations.

Well I made it to my days off. And the weather is suppose to be nice. That makes me happy. Good weather for the trick or treaters. We never get any though as we are off the beaten path and usually the road is muddy.

Last night we went out to eat and Rick bought me my perfect rose. This one is salmon colored and just lovely. I usually get one about every 2 weeks. I added to to my other flowers and it makes a nice contrast.

My Doc just called and cancelled my appointment until I get my electrical studies done. Now why didn't they tell me that right away. I would like to have had my surgery done this year as my insurance is going way up next year and the out of pocket is doubling. So now I don't see him until Dec. Sigh. It always takes so long to get into his office. I should check and see it the other hand specialist in town would be faster.

I was reading over my old journal. They will be deleting them all soon. I hope everyone got their journals transfered over. Since I use mine like I would a personal journal I would have hated to lose it. Last year at this time we were taking care of my MIL during her illness. It seems like yesterday. Hard to believe she has been gone almost a year already.

Well, I have been reading my camera book and trying to figure out how to take better pictures with the macro lens I just got. I am going to have to break down and use that darn tripod. I am such a snap and shoot at heart.

Hope everyone has a wonderful night .
Check this out, its kind of fun

And this is just some beautiful fall colors.

The New Alphabet

The New Alphabet

A is for Apple, and B is for Boat, That used to be right, But now it won't
float! Age before Beauty is what we once said, but let's be a bit more
realistic instead.

Now A's for arthritis; B's the bad back, C is the chest pains, perhaps
cardiac? D is for dental decay and decline, E is for eyesight, can't read
that top line!

F is for fissures and fluid retention,

G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.

H is high blood pressure--I'd rather it low;

I for incisions with scars you can show.

J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,

K is for knees that crack when they bend.

L for libido, what happened to sex?

M is for memory, I forget what comes next.

N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;

O is for osteo, the bones that don't grow!

P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, Just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!

Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?

R for reflux, one meal turns to two.

S for sleepless nights, counting my fears, T for Tinnitus; there're bells in
my ears!

U is for urinary; big troubles with flow;

V is for vertigo, that's "dizzy" you know.

W is for worry, NOW what's going 'round?

X is for X ray, and what might be found.

Y is another year I'm left here behind,

Z is for zest that I still have in my mind. I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed, and I've kept twenty-six doctors fully employed.

Last night of work

Last night went fairly well. We were almost completely full, but had no real problems so it went well. At least until the day shift came. They must have all agreed to come in a really bad mood as it seemed like most of them were pretty darn cranky making the last 35 minute of work stressful and depressing. Thanks gang.

I slept well today and am looking forward to getting my last night over with. I got a new 100 mm macro lens for my camera and I just want to play. It is suppose to be nice tomorrow also, fun. So I see Obama while visiting his " sick grandmother" just happened to meander over to Governor Linda Lingle's office and enlist her aide in sealing his records until after the election. Now I ask you, Why doesn't he want to show a birth certificate? What is he trying to hide? If he has one like he claims, you would think he would be whipping that puppy out for all to see thus ending all the vicious right wing gossip, right? Unless its not gossip, unless he really is citizen of Kenya like his grandparents stated. Hummmmmmm. So, enough of that. Just like to keep you thinking.

I went to the library yesterday and got a new supply of books in. Fiction this time. Good old murder mystery. Rick is busy in the kitchen making spaghetti, yummy. Tonight at work I don't have to be charge so life is good. Happy hump day all.

Tagged by Emmi

Well, I got tagged by Emmi ... Gee thanks pal, LOL, Cool snags by the way, I didn't know you had that talent also.

Here are the rules:
* link to the person who tagged you
* list 6 random things about yourself
* tag 6 new people
* let each tagged person know by posting a comment on their blog
* link to the 6 people you've tagged
* and let the person who tagged you know that you posted

OK, 6 random things you may not know about me.

* I was a high school drop out 6 weeks before it was time to graduate. When I was expecting my 2nd child 3 years later, I went to get my GED. The principal was my old teacher who had been so impressed with the way I read that apparently he spent much time wondering what had become of me. I was always reading anything and everything I could get my hands on back when he knew me. So anyway, he arranged for me to get my regular high school diploma after I finished the class I had to take. So, I am in 2 year books.

* I used to be a long distance operator and could do at least 10 different voices when I was working to keep the work from being boring.

* Hearing someone get sick to their stomach always used to make me get sick and I hated blood....who would have thought I would ever become a nurse.

* I used to green break horses when I was much much younger. Haven't ridden in years now. They might break me back, LOL

* I once took the entrance exam for Mensa and passed. My mom was in and wanted me to do it. I never joined and couldn't pass the test to save my soul these days I bet.

* I once lectured my sons and their friends on the importance of doing a monthly testicular exam after having one of my young patients die because he didn't tell anyone, much to my sons dismay and embarrassment........ however in their later years all these young men told me they regular did it and have plans to have the same talk with their sons. If I can save one young life my mission was accomplished , giggle

So now I have to pick 6 people to pass this on to. Linda is out of town so she can do it when she gets back.

Linda, the kindest coolest lady I know.

Helen, She is the one who turned me on to my old camera and always take the best shots.

Possum, the cat with the biggest attitude of any cat I know. I know his answers will delight me.

Mary, She is a special lady who has visited our beautiful country and seen her hubby though sick and health. Just a nice woman

Skip and Vick, visit them to see their wonderful animals and home. They are truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful animals and they love chickens, one of my favorites.

Jeannette, oh my, the places she gets to travel to and the wonderful photo's she shares. If you haven't seen her journal do visit.

Now there were lots of people I wanted to tag but 6 is all I am allowed. So pass it on. Well ya please.
