Another day and more snow. Every day almost it snows a small amount. Spring around the corner but it is hard to imagine getting rid of this snow any time soon. And planting my flowers.
I went on a cleaning frenzy yesterday and emptied and cleaned all my kitchen cabinets. I got rid of so many old glasses and cups. Why in the world would 2 people own 20 coffee cups? And why did we feel the need to save our old dishes when we got new? And 20 jars. Gone, all gone now. I can set the table for 7 with matching everything, but if I serve more then that they have to bring their own setting. And that's fine. And I went through the pantry. Shameful how much I had to toss because we eat out so often. The birds loved the old rice and oats though. Now everything sparkles in the kitchen.
However, a testimony of what terrible shape I am in is that from climbing up and down from the chair and tiptoeing to reach and clean the top shelves I had charlie horses all night. Must not use those muscles enough. Bike riding will be tuff this year. I didn't think I would be able to sleep without having to leap out of bed in agony at least once last night. So I did the silliest thing I have done in a long time. Put a bar of soap between my sheets.
I have heard about this for a long time. Snopes can't even explain why this seems to work. It just makes no sense. But I have done many things I never thought I would do to try and get some relief from pain so what the heck. It couldn't hurt right!
I slipped a bar of motel sized soap in my bed by the leg that was bothering me worse and settled in. Woke up this morning after a lovely night sleep. Did the soap work? Who knows. All I know that I couldn't even sit or stretch without cramping up before I went to bed it was that touchy. And I slept well. And no harm was done. So tell me. Has anyone else ever tried this and what were your results?
Today also marks the beginning again of my starting my good eating pattern. I have been so off track last year and I want to get back in shape, lose the weight I gained and get ready for bike season, if the snow ever melts. I am excited as I feel motivated which I haven't felt like in a long time. All I felt like in a long time was in pain. So this is good.
I can't remember the last time I ate fast food. Well yes I can actually. When my son did the 24 hour bike race 2 years ago we ate at one. I was sick for hours. And I never eat meat without trimming it. I usually only eat 2 meals a day and I don't drink pop. I have good eating habits but bad portion control and lately we have been having bread with many meals and deserts at night.
So the plan. 1200 to 1500 calories a day. Food journal kept at fitday.com. No bread, no potatoes except sweet potatoes. Lots of fresh steamed lovely veggies. No deserts. Lots of water. Simple. It worked great for me before.
Well, time to get my fly ladies list done today. Wash my sheets and my task today is shredding old files from my MIL's estate. I think 2 years is long enough. And my cast is bugging me really bad. I have a blister from the thumb area. One more week. I can't wait. It will be interesting to see if my wrist still feels good when I can move it.

I have never heard of the soap helping cramps but I wear socks to bed and that helps. It also helped I think when I took those iron tablets because my blood count was low. I say if it helps go ahead and do it.
Hope your week goes well.

I think I've got 20 coffee cups and it's just me..yikes..lol!
It's strange Julie because I was just looking in my cupboards and thought.. why am I giving house room to all those cups and glasses?
I could store more useful goods in their place.
I will pack them up for the charity shops and do a 'Julie' on the rest of my cupboards. lol
I love my bread. It is such a comfort in snowy weather.
I hope you are able keep to your calory counting but I think I will give it a couple of more weeks until the winter has lost its grip here in the Lakes.
That'soap' trick sounds worthwhile.
I must remember it for the future.
I hope you will be pain free when your cast is removed next week.
Take care of yourself.
Hugs

I have to periodically clean out our cupboards cuz we do the same thing, lol. I have never heard of the bar of soap thing, but like you said no harm no foul so what the hay. Good luck on your journey, it's so tough to eat 1200 a day and I could never give up potatoes but I lost my 1st 60 still eating potatoes so I guess I can lose these last 20 that way - but I do miss french fries. Can't wait to get my bike out!
