My take on the healthcare and Zoey.

When I complain of our health care bill in the states I don't mean to include your country in the debate. I am happy you have a health care system that works for you in Canada and overseas. I wish we had one that worked as well. We should have. For what we pay it shouldn't even be an issue. This health care bill to us isn't about the problem of health care. It is about our government getting even more control over our life's and our pocket books. I don't know about your countries. I have enough problem with mine. But historically in this country our government can't keep their hands off of our money.

Every single paycheck I have ever earned I paid social security on. I pay state taxes, government taxes, school taxes, misc taxes. We all do. If it had been left alone none of us would have to worry about what happens after we retire. All the money we paid should be there for us. To pay for our health care in our senior years, to help us pay our bills, enough to live on. But our government spent it. Like the stimulus money we don't get a clear idea where it all goes. I have not worked my entire life since I was 12 for our president to take a million dollar date to NY. For our elected officials to take trips all over the country with a few dozen of their closest friends on my dime. Get $400.00 haircuts, have 22 personal assistants, several houses apiece and most of them not even paying taxes themselves. Plus we pay for their health care. And they get anything they want, botox, the best suite, whatever hospital or doctor they want to see.

We need to fix our government. Then we, the citizens who are the ones affected by our health care nightmare have to fix that. Because maybe your governments do what they tell your they are doing. And maybe you can trust your health care to them. To me, in my humble opinion, our government hasn't even proven they can be trusted to walk my beloved dog.

The thing is if the government does take control over our health care we won't be better off. It will be even worse. Because I have read the bill. All of it. Several times. It will be a nightmare. I can't afford to have my taxes go up thousands of dollars. And I shouldn't have to. I already work 3/4 of the year to pay my taxes as it is, more now. This has to stop. We have to get responsible people in our government who aren't just there to get rich and make their cronies rich. That is what this "health care" debate is about.

So, Please forgive me if I sounded like I was insulting your countries. I am just, while I am still free to do so, insulting who is running mine.

And last but not least. Zoey goes back to the vets today to get her sore checked. It looks so much better. Smaller, not red or inflamed. She gets her last antibiotic today. And she is acting like a puppy. She loves the cooler weather.

We are growing grass for Chester. He loved the fresh grass outside when it was nice. So I got some you get for cats and we are giving him some of that every day. He is one happy little piggy. When your pets are happy, well it just makes you happy.

I question all these people claiming to be Canadians and English praising their healthcare systems and coming to our blogs with their .02. Why would any of them care about our healthcare enough to join the debate?

Mark Levin has clearly pointed out through stories written by the English press reasons why healthcare sucks in England. I am not buying these people are visiting our blogs and telling us different. I think it's the effort of the American left posing as people living in a nationalized helathcare state.

Well explained, Julie. If the other countries have health care plans that work for them, that's great. But administration in Washington, is all about what pads their pockets, and 'change' which will not be for the best of all citizens of our country. Leaders can lead into prosperity or poverty, and we know where our leaders are leading us.

I don't live in another country so what they have doesn't interest me. If it works for them, I'm happy, but I've heard that both Canada and England have issues with their systems as well.

As for our government, I don't trust Obie or Obiecare. This plan is designed for illegal border crossers and welfare families and I don't qualify.

I understand where you are coming from Julia. However, I do take exception to Bungalow Bill's comment. I do not "claim" to be British, I AM British. Our Health Service does not "suck". Whilst it is not perfect (what is?) you would have to go a long way to find something better. It saved my life and the lives of friends.

Our health service is no free in that it is paid for out of taxes and national insurance contributions whilst you are working, but the care given is totally free. We pay nothing for hospitalization, treatment, drugs etc. If you saw my latest posting, Mike has just had a cataract operation and a lens implant. He could not have had finer treatment and now no longer needs spectacles.

If our NHS "sucks" then why do people fly in from all over the world to use it? and believe me they do. Nobody is ever turned away here, you are not asked if you have insurance before anybody will look at you. Young and old, rich or poor, everyone is equal. You only pay for treatment if you elect to i.e. you want a private room with all that goes with it and want to jump the reasonably short waiting lists and get it done NOW.

I hope Bungalow Bill gets to read this, perhaps you should ask him to read it.
