Lovely Fall day

Well, it was a little cold actually and I did have to cover my plants as it may be frosty tonight..... but still it was a lovely day. Got my flu shot. And no side effects what-so-ever. I hope it makes a difference.

I can't talk Rick into getting one. Remember years and years ago Jimmy Carter talked everyone into getting a certain type of flu shot. Almost everyone, ourselves included, got sick as dogs. I believe they used a live virus if I remember. Anyway that shot has Rick and many others convinced that all flu shots make you sick. I felt that way for several years but they really push it at work so I broke down and got one several years ago. And I didn't get sick. Not only did I not get sick from it I had a really good winter.

The winter before that was similar to the one I had last year. Everytime I started to get over some crud I would catch another one. It was terrible. It was the first time I ever had pneumonia. I was still a smoker and I had bronchitis all winter. The first time I got the flu shot I went the entire winter without getting sick once. A miracle!

I haven't had as dramatic results every time but it does seem to help. Last year I missed it and was sick for a good portion of the year. And now with work really cracking down and cutting our sick time and PTO's I can't afford it. And I see the day coming if you didn't get the shot and do some preventive effort to not get sick, they will make it hard on you if you do. So got that covered.

Then I finished my Sept. Photo hunt. Finally just under the wire. Now I have to post them and then on the day they say open the post for my entry. All 30 shots. It was fun. I am proud of some of the shots.

My son got me a present today. I was not able to download the PSP a friend, you know who you are sent me and today I got home and he had gotten me PSP 8 and installed it for me. So cool. Now to learn how to use it. Hope I'm bright enough. Such a sweet son.

Well, that is why I am up so late also so I think I will close. I am sore tonight but took a pain pill. I have been doing great with my home exercises.

So what does everyone think about them wanted to get rid of school vacation? Think about having to go to school year round as a child. How awful. I lived for summers. What will that do to tourist trade? Disney? Everything? You have one time in your life to play and have fun. I think we should let them have the time. Just go back to teaching them correctly. Stop dumbing down the classes.

Well on that note. Ta.

I feel like a child should have time to be a child. Three extra hours a day can wear the child and the teachers both out. My daughter stays after school grading papers, entering grades, calling parents. and meeting with parents until 8:00 EDT a lot of days like it is. Then going Saturdays also is just too much. A body needs time for rest and relaxation for the body as well as the mind to stay healthy.
Glad that you got the flu shot. Helen

I think taking away summer vacation from kids would be horrible. Our kids don't get enough time to be kids as it is.

Personally, I don't care if our kids aren't as smart as kids from China. Kids just need to be kids!

Love the pumpkin photo. I'm not crazy about kids going to school year round. they introduced it here years back and some schools do go. I agree, summers are for fun!..in the meantime I need to get my flu shot. stay healthier too during the winter. thanks for reminding me.
