Linda mentioned the other day the other people besides charities that are hurting because of the cash for clunkers. I hadn't even thought about the used car dealers and auto auction sites. And Rick mentioned Taxi companies. They usually buy old cars and use them. So that,s charities, auto auction sites, used car sites, teenagers, taxi's, me, I buy used cars. Poor people. And really when you look at it your turning in your clunker and its your money which your paying yourself with because its your taxes. So your paying yourself to turn in your car and get a new one. Seems silly. Around and around and around it goes.
So, who am I missing. What other business can you think of that will be hurt by the lack of old clunkers? Because remember, they are destroying the old cars people are turning in. And one other thing. Our local car lot has only been paid for one of the cars he received from the government. So how many of them will be hurt?

Interesting counterpoint to the media hype fawning over the program. Good questions!

When I lived in Chicago the 1-877 Kars 4 Kids theme song drove me up the wall, but I can see where they might be hurting with this crazy government subsidy.
We're all going to be hurting because of the cash for clunkers program. We're all going to end up paying for it. Taxes will go up to make the money the government didn't have to begin with.
Did you hear about the stimulous package that was to give $200 to single moms and poor families for school supplies? Well, the money is not being used for the school supplies. They found most most of the parents are spending the money on everything from drugs, cigarettes and alcohol to cell phones!
Have a good Saturday!
The sad thing is that alot of these cars aren't really clunkers. Tere's an article in our paper today about the impact on the Used Car dealers. This one said they've only sold 18 used cars since the first of July and there average used to be 30-40 a month. Also some of the local dealerships involved in the program are threatening to pull out of the "CFC" program because they are not getting their reimbursements. I can't understand the mindset of those who feel this is another wonderful thing this administration is doing. Linda in WA
