Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The
Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications
from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned
out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the
California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch.
The grave site was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who
never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but
his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart
cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little
flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive
roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane
Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by
his elderly father, Pop Tart.
The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

The weather has been cold and I have been ill so my thoughts turn to soups. This one I got out of the healthy cooking magazine and is very good. The recipe makes quite a bit, 13 cups so you can either make the full amount and freeze or cut the recipe in half.
Southwest Bean Soup
1 large onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minces
3 cans (14 -1/2 ounce each) reduced-sodium beef broth
2 cans (15 ounce each) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cans (4 ounces each) chopped green chilies
1 cup frozen corn
1 - 1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 c fresh cilantro
In a large nonstick pan coated with cooking spray, cook and stir the onion, green pepper and garlic over medium heat until almost tender.
Stir in the broth, beans, tomatoes, chilies, corn, chili powder and cumin. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in cilantro
1 cup = 95 calories, trace fat, 2mg cholesterol, 459 mg sodium, 18 g carbs. 5 gm protein
This is only 1 point for WW.
A little grated low fat cheddar is good on top and it warms you to your toes.
Well, my pink eye was the precursor to some type of viral infection. I have been ill for the last 2 days and ended up with the pink eye in both eyes. Saturday I spent sleeping and having nightmares. In one of them my bed was breathing. It was like I was awake, simply horrifying. I felt like I was awake and lay there feeling and hearing my bed breathing. Another one I tried to wake up. I felt like I was awake but couldn't open my eyes or get my body to respond. I could feel and hear someone laying next to me breathing, but couldn't open my eyes to see who it was. I could hear Rick in the kitchen and knew it wasn't him. Finally I was able to open my eyes and get out of bed. I could feel the person next to me get up also but when I turned to look there was no one there. Then minutes later I really woke up and was still in bed. I could have sworn I was awake and had gotten up. Another time I heard something outside my window knocking. I went out in my PJ's and slippers in the cold and looked. Nothing there. I was glad no one drove by as I was not looking my best. I went back inside and back to bed. My entire body hurt and I was having chest pain off and on. My mouth tasted terrible. What a icky feeling. Yesterday I still felt bad but not that sick.
Obviously I must have had some weird type of virus, but fortunately am feeling better today. Just worn out and tired. Definitely did not get any restful sleep.
Today I am just going to try and completely recover and do light house work. I still have a killer headache. Hopefully our weather is going to warm up a little.

Wow, those were some really weird dreams. Were you feverish? Megan gets pink eye all the time, and the cat gets it from her. LOL at the dough boy. Cracked me up.
The soup sounds wonderful. Hope you'll join us & participate in our "Food Friday" entries. Linda in blustery Washington state

Oh Wow, Julie! Sounds like a horrible dream, you really must be feeling bad. I do hope you recover quickly!!! Soup sounds good. De ;)
I was unaware that the Doughboy ate it. He had a great life and his fast rise to success surely was due to his exceptional good taste. How nice of you to savor his memory.

That soup sounds delicious. Think I will copy and paste it and send to my DIL. They used to cook lots of different beans. I am glad that you are some better. Those nightmares sounds horrible. I did those things when I came home from surgery the other day. I hate them. Hugs, Helen
Sorry you haven't been feeling well...I know how nasty pink eye is. {{{Julie}}}
You are right to say I wouldn't like the soup....LOL! However, my parents will LOVE it, so I've copied it off and will be making it for them. :) Thanks.
