When Religion's use hate

I don't know why the new hate speech laws don't apply to this church.   After all the definition of this law is any communication which disparages anyone based on their race or sexual orientation.    This baptist preacher and his misguided followers are undeniable doing that with their hateful disgusting signs and gathering.   It just sickens me to listen to these people.   And what they are teaching their young children should be considered abuse.

I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religion.   I don't believe in targeting a group of people because of their race sexual orientation.   Over the centuries there have been many instances of cruelty and murder done by the pious in the name of religion.   A interpretation that is unbelievable to those of us who believe in a merciful loving God.   And one that you would think as people get more educated,  move out of the dark ages of superstition and ignorance would be something you wouldn't see as much.   But it is still happening all over the world.   And that it is happening in a church of God deeply saddens me.   That people can be this cruel to others deeply saddens me.   That this quack is being given so much press.... deeply saddens me.

To the families of our soldiers.   Don't let the actions of this ignorant man stand for what the majority of people feel for the loss of your loved one.   The soldiers are in my prayers and heart each and every day.   The action of this nut job should be classified under law as a hate crime and stopped.

The Blaze

If your not reading this blog,  you should be.  Check out this violent ad put out by a dangerous radical group who also attended the recent communist rally in Washington hosted by some comedian.   This rally was very interesting.   Endorsed by Obama it had union thugs, communists, who no longer feel the need to hide, and went out of their way to make sure people had rides who went,  and weirdly a Methodist church group was there.

Just curious,  were the union members asked if they wanted their dues spent to sponsor a group that rubbed shoulders with ACORN members,  whoops they have a new name now.  Or the new communist party which openly held their signs high?

So anyway.  Check out the Blaze and check out these oh so scary stories.   Is this our bright new world?

A day at the Fair

Riverssance Festival this year was a blast.    The Carilon player  Frank DellaPenna was so great.  I even bought a CD and I usually don't.  It was that cool.

    The music held you mesmerized.

His theatrics were great.   Then of course we went to the smoker where they passed out cigars,  beer by the gallon and smoked turkey wings that were yummy.   Oh, and rowdy jokes and songs.   It was a good time.

Snake dancers

Pirates

And my friend Garie as the Mudman.   Had to laugh, he's covered with mud but using a napkin to keep the turkey juice off his clothes.

Then we wandered around and looked at the exhibits.

Giant Irish Wolfhounds.

Look at that face

And of course we watched the Jousting.   I love the huge horses.

And of course the knights fight to the end.

So anyway it was a great way to spend the day.   Today we are getting ready for a long bike ride.   I have a turkey leg to work off.

Happy Sunday

It is a chilly Sunday in Iowa.  But it promises to be a great day so later we are going to the Riverssance fest. to see our friend the Mudman again.   Should be fun at the smoker listening to music and eating smoked turkey legs.   They are also having a Carillon artist playing this unique instrument.  I hear he is amazing so I hope to get some great shots.

So since we are going to be drinking beer and eating a big turkey leg this afternoon we are going to the gym this morning.     I am loving the gym.   We seem to take about 2 hours to do our workout.   I do the treadmill about 45 minutes and ride the bike then work out with the weights and do some squats and lunges.   Rick is a maniac on the bike.   And the dog,  he is down a pant size and is looking really good.  I wish my gut would shrink so good.   But I am feeling great and can do that awful elliptical longer then 5 minutes now.

My grandson's birthday is next week.  It is hard to believe how fast he is growing up.   I sure miss having them around.  But I love Toy's R us on-line.  He just makes a list of things he would like and I can buy it and have it shipped knowing it will be something he likes and that no one else has gotten it for him.  Takes the guess work out of it.  Us long distance gramma's have to do what we can.

My niece is going to have her first baby in a couple of weeks.   A new chapter of her life.   I am excited for her.    She is so beautiful I know the baby will be cute.  I haven't seen a photo of her husband but I know the baby will be a joy for them.

My oldest will be 35 this year.   How the heck did that happen?   It seems like just yesterday I was the one having a new baby.  Time flies so fast.

Politics,  well you knew I couldn't post without saying something.   I think they will be dirtier then ever this year.   The democrats are already busy digging up dirt and evading the real issues.  And they are doing the usual voter fraud of absentee voting and bringing out the dead.   I am wondering if some of the funding is coming from the non-existent district 00 where they send some of the stimulus money.   And they are using plenty of union dues on the appointee's of their choice.  Personally I don't think union dues should be used for campaign funding.   Breeds corruption   Course they are known for that.  Voting time is coming up fast.  I have picked my candidates, have you?

What is a Grandparent

WHAT  IS A GRANDPARENT?
Taken from papers written by  a class of 8-year-olds. You'll love it :

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of  their own. They like other  peoples.'

A  grandfather is a man & a grandmother is a  lady!

Grandparents  don't have to do anything except be there when we  come to see them. They are so old they shouldn't  play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the  shops and give us money.

When  they take us for walks, they slow down past things  like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They  show us and talk to us about the colours of the  flowers and also why we shouldn't step on  'cracks.'

They  don't say, 'Hurry up.'

Usually  grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your  shoes.

They  wear glasses and funny  underwear.

They  can take their teeth and gums  out.

Grandparents  don't have to be smart.

They  have to answer questions like 'Why isn't God  married?' and 'How come dogs chase  cats?'

When  they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if  we ask for the same story over  again.

Everybody  should try to have a grandmother,   especially if you  don't have television because they are the only  grownups who like to spend time with  us.

They  know we should have snack time before bed time, and  they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we've  acted bad.

A  6-YEAR-OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA  LIVED.  ''OH,''  HE SAID, ''SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE  WANT HER, WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE'RE DONE  HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE  AIRPORT.''

GRANDPA  IS THE SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! HE TEACHES ME GOOD  THINGS, BUT I DON'T GET TO SEE HIM ENOUGH TO GET AS  SMART AS HIM!

It's  funny when they bend over; you hear gas leaks, and  they blame their  dog.

Gym Rats again

Yup, we joined a gym again.   Anytime Fitness.   I am doing pretty good on my weight loss and didn't want to lose out on the exercise.   Already in Iowa it is cold and rainy.   Bike riding has been out of the question.   I can use my walking tapes but really wanted to move it up a notch.     So we joined a gym.

After all the surgeries I really couldn't go workout for so long.   Between the shoulder and the wrists it just wasn't going to work.   But I am all healed up and raring to go.

This new gym as this really cool stationary bike hooked up to a computer program.   You watch a screen and actually steer the bike and shift.   There are several different trails and levels.   Rick and I raced.  It was a real workout and I was sweating buckets.  He won,  no surprise.   Then I worked out on the weights and tried the elliptical and treadmill.   The first time I tried a elliptical at our old gym I couldn't get it to work.   This one is much nicer and so smooth.  I still could only do 5 minutes though.   Man,  it looks so easy.  I will get better.

I was the oldest woman there and the heaviest since most people working out when we went were college cheerleaders or young men.  But Rick loved it and I don't care.  I am just there to stay healthy and active.   And finish losing the rest of the weight I want to lose.  At the rate I am losing,  which was down 40.5 pounds this morning, it should take me a year or two.  Oh well.

Besides that not much is going on.  I have been listening to our candidates and following the elections in the country with interest.   I think the country finally woke up to the fact that we have elected a Marxist to the white house and that we really are not ready to go in that direction.  I hope at least they have woke up.  Not before some severe damage has been done though.

I just heard about some lady that was going to nursing homes and "helping the residents vote for Obama" during our last election.   Voting fraud is extremely prevalent.   And even when they are caught, like in Minnesota, they aren't made to stand down.  Union and black panther thugs get away with intimidation,  politicians get away with tax evasion.   It's a dirty world and we need to change it.  And voting in the Democrats is not the way to get our country back.

At the gym they tax you for using the tanning booth.   They passed this discriminatory tax because black people don't use them.  They practice racism in the Democratic party all the time.   Well,  I had skin cancer.  I don't use it either.   So don't tax me.

It's these little things they have pushed through you don't even think about.  But your money is not buying what it used to.  Your saving less.   We have more people in the poverty level then ever before.   Each and every one of us will see at least a 10% increase in the cost of our health insurance.   I didn't get a raise this year.   Neither did either of my son's.  But our cost of living has gone way up.   The only ones getting rich this year are the ones increasing our taxes.   And that needs to stop.

My prayer this year is that people will pay attention.  They will vote wisely.  They will look around them at all we have and all we can do and not let them take it away from us who work so hard for it.   If you work hard and are successful that should not be a crime.   You should be able to keep what you work hard for.   If you refuse to work hard,  refuse to better yourself by going to school and getting an education I should not have to pay for your laziness.   If you do drugs and drink all day I should not have to pay for your food and keep.  If you can't manage your money or stop spending more then you make,  I should not be punished for that.   None of us should.  That is what our country was built on.   Hard work and the promise having a good life if your were willing to work for it.   This party wants to take all that away.  Reward you for you dependency and keep you dependent.  Keep you down and beholding to them for housing and food.  Well....  Sorry Charlie.  I am capable of doing that myself.   Keep your paws out of my wallet.

Well, time to hit the gym,  the man is ready.  Let the calorie burn begin.
