Beautiful Spring day

It's a beautiful Spring day out today.   I love it.  I sat outside and listened to all the birds singing.   Wrens have moved back into their old birdhouse and I have more trying to tempt mates into the other 2 I have.   For such a small bird they have a loud mouth.    The wren on the front porch is running into trouble as the Robin doesn't want the wren so close to it's nest in the wreath.   It keeps diving at it and chasing it away.   But wrens are pretty feisty little birds and it keeps coming back.

The robins have already raised one hatch of babies and are cleaning up the nest for another batch.   In the backyard I have cardinals and bluejays begging me to put some feed out and the big old turkey is strutting his stuff and begging some also.   I love sitting outside and watching all the birds.    We had Orioles, nut-thatchers, chickadees,  goldfinches, sparrows, cowbirds, thrushes, woodpeckers,  hawks,  blackbirds,  and a few I don't know the names to.

We had a baby gardersnake in my flower bed in the front last week.   So tiny and cute.   I came out to water the new grass I planted and saw it dead on the walk with it's head missing.   Oh No!   I went and showed Rick and we were bummed out about it.   Rick went out later to get rid of the body and it was gone!  What!   Then we saw a hawk going flying by with the little body in it's claws.   Such is life.   Short for some.

Zoey is better off and on.   We think she has a chronic pancreatitis going on.   Since her bad illness a few years ago she seems prone to it.   Of worry is one of her nipples is getting really big.  Since she has never had pups getting breast cancer is rare but not unheard of.   The vet wants us to keep an eye on it.  But the good news is she has lost some weight and seems happy and healthy today.  Shedding like a storm.   I brush her and get a dogs worth of hair off her and she is still shedding.

We are getting ready to go to the gym again today.   I slacked off for a week and yesterday it was hard to get back to my routine.   Personally,  as beautiful as it is outside I would love a bike ride but Rick wants to work on his arms today so the gym it is.

I finally have my dress,  shoes and jewelry ready for the wedding next month.  I might have fun after all.    They are getting married at the mall of America which I have never been too,  that may be fun.  I hate shopping though.    We have someone who will stay here to watch the dog and the guinea pig.

We are going out of town later.   With gas prices so high we don't do that much anymore.   We have cut down on everything we do actually.    But when it is so nice outside who needs to leave town.   I read about all the troubles people are having and am just happy to have a house high from any flooding and hopefully tornadoes are done for the year.

Well,  time to get ready to work out.   Why is it all the things that are good for you aren't as much fun as the things that are bad for you?

Ya diss is da Truth

Ole and Sven were drinking buddies who worked as aircraft mechanics in Minneapolis and one day the airport was fogged in and they were stuck in the hangar with nothing to do.
Ole said, "I vish ve had somethin ta drink!"
Sven says, "Me too. Y'know, I hear you can drink dat yet fuel and get a buzz. Ya vanna try it?"
So they pour themselves a couple of glasses of high octane hooch and got completely smashed.
Next morning Ole woke up and is surprised at how good he feels. In fact he feels GREAT! NO hangover! NO bad side effects. Nothing!
The phone rang. It was Sven who asks "How iss you feelin dis mornin?"
Ole says, "I feel great. How bout you?"
Sven says, "I feel great, too. Ya don't have no hangover?"
Ole says, "No dat yet fuel iss great stuff -- no hangover, nothin. Ve oughta do dis more often."
Sven agreed."Yeah, vell, but dere's yust vun ting."
Ole asked, "Vat's dat?"
Sven questioned, "Haff you farted yet?"
Ole stopped to think. "No "
"Vell, DON'T, 'cause I'm  in Iowa

Zoey

She is doing better,  now she is eating and drinking and not getting sick, thank goodness.  Still has some problems with her poo and still a little dumpy.   We are thinking maybe some food was bad.  When you feed the natural foods sometimes they can be bad.  We are keeping her on just hard food for now.   Thank you everyone for your well wishes.   I was so sure she was getting the same thing back she had a couple of years ago that made her have to get IV.   Oh Yuck,  she does still have terrible terrible gas which she just shared with me,  time to go outside.

My world

That is what my poor piggy bank looks like after filling my gas tank, yikes, can you believe these gas prices!    Top that off with a large branch hitting my car when we had bad weather last week and that really skinnyed up the ole bank.

We had a bad tornado hit a small town here last week which totaled 1/3 rd of the town.    It has been wonderful to see the community help out and schools from hundreds of miles away have sent students over to help clean up the damage.   Many people lost their homes so it is a sad thing but no one lost their lives so it was amazing.   That was the same storm that made the branch fall on my tree.   The same car I just had repaired after it was hit this winter.  Poor ole car.

The weather is cold and wet and we had snow yesterday.   But we know it won't last long.   Today we are looking for paint to paint the house.   That is going to be our vacation this year.   With the gas prices and the way things are going we are stocking up and staying home.

I am getting things ready for my son's wedding in June.    I have a dress I have to get altered and am looking for shoes and undergarments today.  I will be so happy when that is done.    This had better be the last time.   I do like my soon to be daughter in law though.  She is a sweetie.

My skin thing on my nose is not growing and maybe smaller so I am just watching it.   Good news.

The diving robin is back on the porch on a new nest.   She yells at me every time I go outside.   Wonder how she will like us moving her when we paint the house.   I wasn't thinking and should have taken down the wreath before she build her nest.   I think she was early this year.   I wanted to hire someone to paint but Rick insists we do it ourselves.  Sigh.

My son finally got a job.   It was a long time coming.   I was getting worried.    The economy is terrible here and we have lost several big jobs in town.   Things are going to get worse.    They just raised my property taxes but in this market I could only get half what they say my house is worth.  And food costs!   Yikes.   Everything I was worried about is happening and we are busy getting prepared for very bad times ahead.   I have very little faith anything will be done to stop the direction the country is headed.   So we are getting prepared.    Expect the worse,  but pray daily for the best.

We are in 3 wars,  the economy is the worse it has been since the depression.   Unemployment is sky high.   This government only counts those that are on unemployment.  It doesn't count all those whose unemployment has run out or those who aren't looking.    But when you have hundreds show up for 1 job that is telling.   Most of the new jobs created are government jobs,  why is that?

So with all this going on I should be down and depressed but I don't feel like being that way so life goes on.   We are preparing but enjoying life while we can.   I truly believe soon we won't be able to enjoy many of the things we take for granted so we are enjoying them now.   We are living like cancer patients.  Taking each day like it may be our last.

If your not reading the Blaze.com  I strongly suggest it.   If your not getting ready for bad times I suggest that also, but by now if you still don't see it coming nothing I say could convince you so I am not preaching anymore.

Outside some buds are showing up on the trees and we have gotten one bike ride in.   I have been bad about going to the gym as we have been so busy.   I have so many things to do right now and not enough time in the day.   Monday Zoey gets her vet check up and Chester the guinea pig is still going strong and is so cute.   I gave him a bath and he is all fluffy and soft.   They really are sweet little fur balls.

Well,  Rick is finally ready to go, I sure hope I can find some shoes that won't kill my feet.   I just hate dressing up.  I love my keen's and crocs.    So that is my update, such as it is.  Take care all.
