Surgery and Trolls

Well,  I see the troll is back.  Imagine having such a little life.   Oh well,  it is nothing to me.   Onward.

I am going to end up having to have surgery after all.   The mass is back on my wrist so we will try once more to rid me of it.   Darn thing.   I am not having surgery until July since we have a co-worker just coming back and I want to make sure we are staffed well.

The weather is great here and we have been riding a lot plus I have been working out to a work out tape.   Never thought I would do that.  But it is kind of fun.   Zoey likes watching me, LOL.

Well, have to get the van.   We lost windshield number 3 to a gravel truck.  I swear they should be responsible for paying for the windshields.   I pull over if I even see one close.  Take care all.

Aprons

The History of  'APRONS'

I don't think our kids know what an apron is.
The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few.
It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material.
But along with that, it served as a potholder for  removing hot pans from the oven.     It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.
When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids..
And when the weather was cold grandma wrapped it around her arms.

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.
Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.
From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables.
After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.
In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.
When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folks knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.   It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.
Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about Grandma's aprons.     REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool.
Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.   They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron.
P.S.   I never saw my Grandmother without one of those aprons on.

Inner Peace

Inner Peace: This is so true

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and
 boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every
day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved
ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and
 blame without resentment ,

If you can conquer tension
 without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

                   From a Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.  My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.  In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet.  I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of.  However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking.  I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.  The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return.  He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant.  I observe him communicating with the guards regularly.  I am certain that he reports my every move.  My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.  For now... Will keep you posted.

It's a bike riding day

The weather is wonderful out and I am getting ready to take a long bike ride.   It is great to be on the bike again after the long winter we had.

I have been working out lately to a aerobics tape.   First time ever I used one of them.   I feel kind of silly but I can sure tell it is working by how sore I am.   I picked one a lady of my age had a prayer of finishing,  Walk at Home 5 Mile Walk.   I use weights and everything.   That has been going well.

So everything is going good.  I have a busy weekend planned.  I am going bike riding today and then cemetery's and tonight the Comedy club for some laughs.   Tomorrow I am going to the Pow Wow, we are having dancers from Canada and the surrounding area's so it should be great.  Plus they are having a flea market.   Then Roller Dames that night.  Sunday we are going to a history lecture about the early days of our city.  In between all that I plan to exercise.  I am going to be busy.

Bad news,  my wrist messed up again.  I don't know if I pushed it too soon since they said I was better or if it was just meant to be but the cyst is back twice as bad.  I don't know if the Kienbock's is back also but the pain I had before is back.  So I am back in my brace and see the doc next Wednesday.  Bummer.

Well, Rick is ready, time to ride.  Thanks to everyone that voted for Zoey.

A sweet little boy
surprised his grandmother one morning
and brought her a cup of coffee.

He made it himself
and was so proud.

He anxiously waited to hear the verdict
on the quality of the coffee.

The grandmother had never in her life
had such a bad cup of coffee,
and as she forced down the last sip
she noticed three of those little green army guys in the bottom of the cup.

She asked,
"Honey, why would three little green army guys be in the bottom of my cup?"

Her grandson replied,
"You know grandma, it's like on TV...

The best part of waking up
is soldiers in your cup."

Have a blessed day and make it a GREAT one!
