Where do they all go?

After supper tonight I looked for containers to put the leftovers away in. A few short months ago I went through the cupboard and matched them all up and threw away the unmatched containers.

So where do they go? I have several lids now with no bottoms, several bottoms with no lids. There is only one place I keep them. In their own separate container. How can they be GONE! Its like the socks I match up only to be frantically searching my drawer for the matching mate minutes before I am suppose to go for work. Gremlins? Chester? Look at the little face. He looks capable of chewing up all that isn't hid away.

So my good mood gone I am busy on my knee's throwing lids and containers behind me muttering and cussing, ( I do cuss rarely), looking for a matched set to put my taco leftovers away. Rick comes up behind me and starts kissing my neck and saying, gee you smell wonderful. What is that your wearing? Rage I spit but when he starts singing....... well....... whats a stupid lid anyway.

My love must be a kind of blind love
I can't see anyone but you.

Are the stars out tonight?
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright
I Only Have Eyes For You, Dear.

The moon maybe high
but I can't see a thing in the sky,
'Cause I Only Have Eyes For You.

I don't know if we're in a garden,
or on a crowded avenue.

You are here
So am I
Maybe millions of people go by,
but they all disappear from view.
And I Only Have Eyes For You.

RIP Johnny Carter, your voice was like a songbird from heaven.

Still employed

I still have my job. After a weird conversation with my boss, I still don't know what we were talking about, I guess I still have my job.

Lazy day, I just love not having to be anywhere or do anything. I don't think I would love it for a long time, but for now I just love it. I have been pretty much working full time since I was 12.

I babysat almost every night when I was young. My mom was a divorced mother with 5 kids to raise. I was a pre-teen and then teenager. Seems funny now since I grew up in the era where we wore blue bell bottoms with patches on the knees.

I was into dressing cool back then. Gauze shirts with embroidered flowers, grannie skirts, elephant bells. It was expensive to dress cool. White lips and blue eyelids, long straight hair. Too cool. And to pay for it I had to work. I would never have expected my mother to pay for my tastes. My mother never had to buy my clothes or any of my expenses once I got old enough to work. And I never expected her to. She put a roof on my head and food in my stomach. She was smart and funny and everyone liked her. I wanted to help her as much as I could.

So..... weird. Trip back in time. I miss my mom. Hard to believe it has been 29 years since she died. She was younger then I am now. I know I sure don't want to not be living. I am grateful for each and every day.. She would have been also.

I dream about my mom and my brother. I dream about my in-laws who I loved. They rarely talk in my dreams. In fact if was years until I hear my mom talk in my dreams. I yearned for her voice. In my dreams she sat quietly and watched me. Please say something I would cry in my dreams..... but she never did. No one ever spoke...... until my hand surgery.

I was nervous about that surgery. And in my dream my mom spoke. The voice I had wanted to hear so long I heard. So I was sure I was going to die in surgery. Why else would she be talking to me but to reassure me. I got everything ready. I told everyone what my wishes were for burial and who got what. I was prepared. But I didn't die. I got the gift of my mothers voice and I misunderstood it. The gift.

So I am nervous once again about this surgery. And I am praying to hear my mothers voice. Now it won't be forboding. Now it will be a joyful sound in my ears. Maybe I can tell her in my dreams I love her once more. I miss her everyday. And that I am not afraid of joining her someday. But I don't think it will be this time. Not for awhile......

Instead of a hint of the day..... question of the day.

Ever cry when doing an entry?

Day 2

Day 2 of my vacation. Came home yesterday to a missed phone call from my boss. Hummmmmm. Are they going to make me come back early? Am I fired? Did they cancel my vacation?

None of the above sound good so I am doing what I do best. Procrastinating. I am going to have a cup of coffee, write a entry and delay calling her until I am wide awake and bushy tailed. If they did cancel my vacation I still am off till next Thursday so it works either way. If I am fired...... well that would just be terrible and I can't believe she would tell me on the phone, and I don't think they can fire you when you need to have surgery for a work comp. injury so it probably isn't that. Maybe she just wants to wish me luck? Naw.....

We didn't do much yesterday. Went for a lovely walk by the river with Zoey. It is perfect weather for walking. 70's, light breeze. I want to take one every day. You really have to get in as good of condition as possible for surgery. I won't be able to use my left arm at all. For anything. For a couple of weeks! Think of everything you do with both arms. It will be a challenge. I am practicing now. Also I hear I will only be able to sleep sitting up. Bummer. I hate sleeping in the recliner. But. This shall pass.

After I call my boss and make sure I am not fired I am calling the place in the black hills we stayed at last year and see if we can rent the cabin for a few days. It will be nice to get away if we can. Just a short vacation. That's all I need.

We watched a great movie yesterday called The Lives of Others. You want to see how our future might be if our country continues on the path its on check this movie out It's a german movie about live under the public eye of the state police while this couple is bugged. Their home is invaded, their lives are invaded. Everything they say is twisted around. It is in German but has subtitles. Very good movie.

Well, put it off as long as possible. Time to call the boss. Ta ta.

Hint of the day.
TO CLEAN MICROWAVE OVEN AND REMOVE ODORS

Place a bowl of vinegar in the microwave and run on HIGH til it comes to a boil. Wipe the interior clean with a rag dipped in the vinegar.

Vacation

I got off work last night at 11 and am officially ON VACATION! Whoopie.

I couldn't sleep last night so have been up since 5:30. We are going for a walk this morning along the river and I hope to do it every day. And I want to do some bike riding. Next weekend we hope to go to the black hills. Mostly I want to just relax.

Work has been stressful the last few months. Everyone tiptoeing around. It will be nice to just not think about it. I want to be relaxed and in a good healthy mood when I have my surgery.

My son's back is better, Rick's bruises are healing, I just finished a good book. Life is good.

The blogs have all been sooooo quiet. Why do I keep even doing this? I guess for me. I do think about maybe just going back to a written journal but I like having my photo's on line. Now that I am off I will probably have a ton more to process.

Well, I leave you with this Hint for the day.

Relieve a toothache. Take a shot of Smirnoff Vodka and swish it over the tooth, allowing your gums to absorb some of the alcohol and numb the pain. Swallow or spit out the rest.......... Well, duh

And one for Jimmy.
Clean lipstick from clothing. Rub the stain with Smirnoff Vodka, then throw into your regular wash.

From a Sound Sleep

A much needed sleep I might add. From a sound much needed sleep I was awakened by severe whimpering out loud pain in my left chest. Right where my heart is. Oh crap, oh crap I remember thinking, a heart attack will delay my surgery for sure.

I slowly turned to my back and the pain went away. Relief flooded me. Oh good, just some more referred pain from this stupid shoulder. I'll live! And I was happy to see it was time to get up as I didn't want another short night of sleep.

I am been having more and more issues from my shoulder. It is like it is rapidly getting worse to make sure I don't change my mind. My left hand is numb all the time now and I get the most miserable pain in my forearm and wrist. If I don't pay attention and move my shoulder just right I get a ripping pain that goes straight across it and down my shoulder. Since this is all on my left side I could be having a heart attack and just ignoring, LOL.

The other day I had to work an extra and felt my heart start racing ahead of me. My pulse got up to 160's and then stayed there for the next couple of hours. I had to work extra, be charge and not pass out until it finally slowed down. And yes I know, that is not from my shoulder. Does make work more challenging though.

Tonight is my last night before my vacation. I know practically I should cancel it. Work and save all my PTO and money. Emotionally though, that's the problem. I have been looking forward to this time off. Selfishly I don't want the only time off I get this year to be spend recuperating from another surgery. I want to have fun, see new things, walk new paths and ride my bike. So.....I didn't cancel. I will probably regret it but for now I am superbly happy. Tonight is my last night! Yippy.

The surgery date is coming at me faster and faster. All kinds of people are calling me and I have more to do this time around then last. I have a case worker! She will go to the doc with me. Outwardly to make sure my needs are being met but probably also to make sure I am passing on what the doc tells me and to make sure I am doing my PT like I should. It doesn't bother me. So many people try to screw the system I know why they have to do what they do. Since I plan on doing everything I can to get better fast and back to work we are both on the same page.

Well, I guess it is late enough I should get ready for work. Did you hear? The facts are out now. More accidents are caused by texting and driving then drinking. I believe it too. Had a teen run a red light in front of us the other day, texting on her phone, 10 over, music blaring. I don't think she even realized she ran the red and probably would have died along with my husband. Think about it.

Hint for the day.
Thaw frozen fish. Place the frozen fish in a pan and cover with Cool Whip. The desert topping eliminates the frozen taste, returning the fresh-caught flavor.
