Well I am off work now until my surgery unless I work some this weekend. I ended up missing yesterday because the place they have my stitches on my temple must have caused some swelling and I am having these sharp shooting nerve pains on my head plus my arm is killing me from the tetanus shot. I actually felt under the weather and can't remember if the shot affected me that way the last time I had it. I just felt awful yesterday and not to peachy today. The headache could go away and make me happy.

The picture below I got in an email. Aren't they beautiful. Strange that there are two. I am not sure where they were spotted, not around here that is sure.

And this picture is one huge sturgeon. It weighted 1000 I think. They did let it go afterward because any over 5 feet are released. What a neat catch. Look at the face of the man who caught the fish, smile almost as big as the fish.

Well I see President Obama has declared we no longer have any say in how we are taxed. Not that we seemed to have much anyway, but now it is declared. Oh, and what town is he letting the terrorists loose in? I bet not his town. And if you want to see what the families of victims of 9-11 think of it click here.

Then he said in his speech we have to lower our expectations. Not sure what that means. Tell our children they Can't be all that they can be? Not expect our generation to do better then our parents? ( that is probably a given).

He is also trying to block any of President Bushes pending law's. Among them is the rules including a "right of conscience" law that allows medical providers to refuse to offer any practice they find morally objectionable, including abortion and other reproductive-health procedures. Since I morally would not be able to work in this situation this law allows me to refuse. Since Obama is for full term abortions he might make it mandatory to work in these area's or face losing your job. This wouldn't be just abortions, this would be placing born fetuses in the back room and not doing care for them if the mother had come in for a full term abortion (which will be the law if he passes it), could be up the day of the babies birth. This goes against the oath I took when I became a nurse. Refusing care to someone because they are mentally handicapped, pass the age of productivity, race, color or financial status is something that I do not believe in. And I should not be forced to do what morally I consider wrong. I would have to leave the profession I love.

Our faith in the new president was reflected by the loud crash as the stock market fell lower then ever before with the swearing in of a new president. The sound of running feet as companies fired people right and left and made plans to relocate companies elsewhere came next. And the new health care for the masses? We were told to eliminate 110 Full time positions as the hospitals already are taking a beating with people not paying. They expect it to be much worse. So everyone will be covered but there won't be anyone there to take care of them. This is all in the first day. Interesting to see what comes next. Interesting and scary. No wonder my head hurts so bad.

Doc

I went to the doc today and had the area removed. He said it is probably a basal cell cancer. It didn't hurt taking it off because he numbed it and put in a couple of stitches, but it is smarting now. Right by my temple so it looks pretty silly. He is pretty sure it is cancer but not 100% what type so I am hoping for the basal cell which is usually curable by just removing it. Monday I will get the stitches out. I also got a tetanus shot, ouch. I couldn't remember when I had my last tetanus shot so I had to have another.

While I was there I got some samples for Rick for his blood pressure so we are all set for awhile. I work 2 more nights and then I am off. And this morning I saw my asthma doc and am in good shape for my surgery. I will be happy when it is done.

Dan had a friend come down who is a plumber. He fixed Dan's pipe and put in the latest and greatest plumbing. So Dan is a happy man.

Well, I am going to take some Tylenol as my incision is smarting. I can tell the numbing med is wearing off. Should be a long day.

PS, the spectacle today is costing tax payers around $150 million dollars! Another first! Wasn't he talking about stopping Wasteful Government Spending!

Let the fun begin

Rick

Well Rick heard on some of his tests. The MRI was good. The carotids showed some blockage. So much for our inexpert opinion, LOL. We both watched them do and thought it looked good. They didn't have the results to his echo or bubble study.

Tomorrow I go there to get this growth looked at and I am not leaving without a blood pressure script for my husband.

Day off

In spite of my patients being just wonderful and polite it was a difficult weekend for me. My pain has been pretty unbearable . I just can't get comfortable. So I am glad I am off. My left arm feels like a lead pipe and hurts. I have therapy to day and will throw myself on their mercy for something for pain. I just can't take it much longer.

We also are going to see if we can get Ricks test. Then I need to make a appointment to have a growth removed from my face, It looks cancerous and sprang up about 3 weeks ago. So one thing after the other. Rick finally fessed up he had been having some slugged speech and drooping when he was first sick. Why he didn't call me. Who knows. So lots going on today.

I hope the office opens soon as I want to go to bed.

A friend of sons came to town and fixed Dan's plumbing. He is pretty tickle pink. It was a lot less they it could have been.

Well, I am getting too tired to type. Take care.

I hate Winter

My youngest son called the 100 year old water pipe in his bathroom broke. Being a kid that takes after me he had no idea what to do to stop the flow of water running into his walls and basement. Find the shut off I told him. Of course the 100 year old shut off would shut the water off but he did find where the water pipe had split. So now Rick is over there checking it out. Rick the man of all trades. The can fix anything with duck tape, bubblegum and a piece of wire. Remember when he repaired my furnace with most of those materials? My son has to work and of course its the beginning of a weekend so any plumber is going to get triple amount unless Rick can get it fixed. I hope they get it fixed.

Work was just a small nightmare of pain. I had lovely patients and they weren't the problem. Just trying to not use my arm and the pain of typing for 12.5 hours and I had to be charge which I hate was just terrible. But. I have only 5 more nights to go and then will be off until after my surgery. I can do this. I can do this. Why did I have to add the shoulder on top of the hand at this time. Man, I am feeling sorry for myself, sorry about that.

Still no news from the doctors office. I am not surprised. Rick didn't call of course. But hopefully no news is good news. He seems good now except still has a small droop in his mouth but even that is better. I am trying to talk him into learning to meditate with me. He doesn't want to go on blood pressure medicine, so try this. I got my blood pressure down and it stays down. I am off medication and I think it is from meditation. Now that I am doing it every day again I can tell the difference. Last night when one of our nurses was blowing a casket I closed my eyes and took a couple of calming breaths and didn't ream her a new...... well you know. She was out of line, terrible, but stressed and angry. Gee, did she have to take an admit too. How terrible. We all had admits, deal with it, we were all behind, deal with it. I just worried she was going to bring her anger right into the rooms but she seemed to leave it at the door. The rest of us payed the price though.

Tonight I don't have to be charge. I will be the one getting the admit. I will remember her, take a couple of deep breaths and go to. It sucks being short those. Stresses you out.

Well, time to finish supper since my supper cooker is at his son's. Hope he gets home in time to get me to work.

Ta Ta and chow.
