Dancing skeleton

And this is just some beautiful fall colors.

Fall

The New Alphabet

The New Alphabet

A is for Apple, and B is for Boat, That used to be right, But now it won't
float! Age before Beauty is what we once said, but let's be a bit more
realistic instead.

Now A's for arthritis; B's the bad back, C is the chest pains, perhaps
cardiac? D is for dental decay and decline, E is for eyesight, can't read
that top line!

F is for fissures and fluid retention,

G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.

H is high blood pressure--I'd rather it low;

I for incisions with scars you can show.

J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,

K is for knees that crack when they bend.

L for libido, what happened to sex?

M is for memory, I forget what comes next.

N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;

O is for osteo, the bones that don't grow!

P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, Just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!

Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?

R for reflux, one meal turns to two.

S for sleepless nights, counting my fears, T for Tinnitus; there're bells in
my ears!

U is for urinary; big troubles with flow;

V is for vertigo, that's "dizzy" you know.

W is for worry, NOW what's going 'round?

X is for X ray, and what might be found.

Y is another year I'm left here behind,

Z is for zest that I still have in my mind. I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed, and I've kept twenty-six doctors fully employed.

Last night of work

Last night went fairly well. We were almost completely full, but had no real problems so it went well. At least until the day shift came. They must have all agreed to come in a really bad mood as it seemed like most of them were pretty darn cranky making the last 35 minute of work stressful and depressing. Thanks gang.

I slept well today and am looking forward to getting my last night over with. I got a new 100 mm macro lens for my camera and I just want to play. It is suppose to be nice tomorrow also, fun. So I see Obama while visiting his " sick grandmother" just happened to meander over to Governor Linda Lingle's office and enlist her aide in sealing his records until after the election. Now I ask you, Why doesn't he want to show a birth certificate? What is he trying to hide? If he has one like he claims, you would think he would be whipping that puppy out for all to see thus ending all the vicious right wing gossip, right? Unless its not gossip, unless he really is citizen of Kenya like his grandparents stated. Hummmmmmm. So, enough of that. Just like to keep you thinking.

I went to the library yesterday and got a new supply of books in. Fiction this time. Good old murder mystery. Rick is busy in the kitchen making spaghetti, yummy. Tonight at work I don't have to be charge so life is good. Happy hump day all.

Tagged by Emmi

Well, I got tagged by Emmi ... Gee thanks pal, LOL, Cool snags by the way, I didn't know you had that talent also.

Here are the rules:
* link to the person who tagged you
* list 6 random things about yourself
* tag 6 new people
* let each tagged person know by posting a comment on their blog
* link to the 6 people you've tagged
* and let the person who tagged you know that you posted

OK, 6 random things you may not know about me.

* I was a high school drop out 6 weeks before it was time to graduate. When I was expecting my 2nd child 3 years later, I went to get my GED. The principal was my old teacher who had been so impressed with the way I read that apparently he spent much time wondering what had become of me. I was always reading anything and everything I could get my hands on back when he knew me. So anyway, he arranged for me to get my regular high school diploma after I finished the class I had to take. So, I am in 2 year books.

* I used to be a long distance operator and could do at least 10 different voices when I was working to keep the work from being boring.

* Hearing someone get sick to their stomach always used to make me get sick and I hated blood....who would have thought I would ever become a nurse.

* I used to green break horses when I was much much younger. Haven't ridden in years now. They might break me back, LOL

* I once took the entrance exam for Mensa and passed. My mom was in and wanted me to do it. I never joined and couldn't pass the test to save my soul these days I bet.

* I once lectured my sons and their friends on the importance of doing a monthly testicular exam after having one of my young patients die because he didn't tell anyone, much to my sons dismay and embarrassment........ however in their later years all these young men told me they regular did it and have plans to have the same talk with their sons. If I can save one young life my mission was accomplished , giggle

So now I have to pick 6 people to pass this on to. Linda is out of town so she can do it when she gets back.

Linda, the kindest coolest lady I know.

Helen, She is the one who turned me on to my old camera and always take the best shots.

Possum, the cat with the biggest attitude of any cat I know. I know his answers will delight me.

Mary, She is a special lady who has visited our beautiful country and seen her hubby though sick and health. Just a nice woman

Skip and Vick, visit them to see their wonderful animals and home. They are truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful animals and they love chickens, one of my favorites.

Jeannette, oh my, the places she gets to travel to and the wonderful photo's she shares. If you haven't seen her journal do visit.

Now there were lots of people I wanted to tag but 6 is all I am allowed. So pass it on. Well ya please.

Good Tuesday

Today is a good day. Not because I am not still numb, I still am and I am still getting older, by the second,
but because today is the last day I have to take my steroids for my asthma which is responsible I think for alot of my weird moods and fluffy feelings lately. I am grateful the medication made my lungs feel better but am even more grateful I can get off them. They do have some unpleasant side effects. So I am happy to chuck them. Now I can get back to feeling normal and hopefully my asthma will take the winter off.

Woke up this morning to a Trojan horse on my computer. It looks like it attached itself to my AVG update which is my virus protection program. Now isn't that nasty of it. So I spent all morning isolating it and hopefully ridding myself of this little pest. Now I ask you. Why do people make the stupid things. Why be so mean and nasty and small in spirit to invent something like this. They are little bits of nothing in my book.

Read about the injunction against Obama that was filed yesterday. Show the birth certificate Obama. Is it too much to ask? Could that be why they are pushing for early voting? Me thinks.

Today is Ricks birthday. He is officially older then dirt but not a geezer yet. Can't officially be a geezer until your 80 and he has 20 some years to go. I have to work tonight so we went out to Famous Daves to eat last night. The food was good but I have one gripe. The booths were squished together so close so they could accommodate so many people that this curvatious full figured woman had to squeeze in. That did have the extra benefit of keeping me on my diet as I feared eating more then a few bites so I could be sure to get myself squeezed out.

Well, the gift I bought Rick is too small so I must go, contact the company and return it for a different size. So bye bye.

Comfortly numb

Got off work this morning and slept well. Today we are celebrating Rick's B-day which is tomorrow. Today was not a good day for me.

You know the song..... comfortable numb. That is how I feel today. I think a side effect from the asthma meds my body is numb. My tongue is numb, my feelings are numb. Maybe the cold weather, my spirits are numb. Maybe worries about our future.... my spirits are numb.

Thinking about how it feels to get older. Sorry. I can't be one of those people that says it is just wonderful. I am more mature, I am smarter, I worry less, I have more money, yada yada yada.

Well..... I ache more. I hate the way my once firm skin sags. I hate how long it takes me to get over a cold. I hate nose hairs, I hate charlie horses, I hate gray hair.

I don't believe in many of the things I used to believe in. I don't believe politicians when they promise a Brand New World. I don't believe, Tomorrow Is Another Day. 50 Is the New 30. Bull crap on that. I had boobs that stood up without a bra at 30. I don't believe in Global Warming, I remember when they said the new ice age was coming. I don't believe that a little of that won't hurt you, yes it will, it goes right to my hips. I don't believe I am going to become someone famous or thin.

I do believe in enjoying each thing of beauty like I may never see it again. I do believe most people are decent with a few very evil monstrous people throw in. I do believe finally in God.

I do believe tomorrow I will wake up and have to work again. My furnace may not make it through the winter. My family that won't or can't work will hit me up for more money and then complain about my politics in the next breath. But...

I do believe in myself. Numb. Fat and fluffy. Stiff and sore. I will get up every day and go to work. I will pay my bills. I will not ask anyone to do more then I do myself. And unfortunately I will keep on aging. Because the alternative to aging is death. And even with all the bummer things about aging..... I am not ready for that.

Sunday

All week I was thinking the clocks turned back this week. All week I was dreading working those 13.5 hours. Only to find out its next weekend. My weekend off. Yippy! I don't have to do it, my co-workers do, snicker, snicker. Shame on me. But for years it fell on our weekend. Then they changed to date to do it, extended it alittle and now, they get to share the rewards.

We are really cold in Iowa today and having gale force winds. Just like the winds that put the tree through my roof earlier this year. In the back woods we hear the occasion loud crack and crash of a large branch and tree bitting the dust. I still have most of the tree that went through my roof in the front yard. I thought about cutting it down, but it didn't fall on the house because it was rotting, it snapped a perfectly healthy looking branch off because the wind was so strong. So I didn't cut it down. Please don't let that be a mistake. I love my perfect new roof.

Work went well last night. When I woke up yesterday I felt so much better. What a huge blessing to have had the night off. Now today I wake up and feel like I have the crud again. This terrible little virus bug just moves in and creates havoc all over your body and not much you can do about it. I am loading up on Vit C, Zinc, black tea Ibuprofen. I can't get my flu shot until I have been healthy for awhile and this little monster bug is not leaving on its own. But.....I don't feel as bad today as I did the other day. It is weakening. I win this round, I hope.

I orientated a new nurse last night. Its a male nurse. Now historically whenever we get a male nurse he ends up leaving our floor. They all want ICU, surgery, or ER. A manly position, LOL. We get them all trained nice and good and bingo, they leave. You have to have a year of post critical care before you can work those other area's. We are a jumping off point for them. This nice young man is no exception. He plans on leaving. Sigh. But we get him for awhile. He is really tall and strong which helps when your getting older and not so strong. Balances out. My experience and knowledge for his strength and willingness to learn. We had a good night also.

Well, I have a hot shower calling my name. My son that just had the birthday called and his neck is out. Like mother like son. Joy of getting older. So I will lend him my microwavable heatable roll, my ice bag, biofreeze and sympathy. I hope it didn't rupture like my disc did.
