Community photo challenge, Change

What a glorious change it is also. A butterfly leaving its cocoon

Ghost?

I was out at the lake last year taking pictures. My memory card was empty. When I got home later and downloaded the pictures this young man was in the pictures. I did not take his picture and never saw him. Not a accidental shot. When I try to enlarge the image it would always say image not available. I wasn't sure I would be able to even save it to my computer as I have never been successful before. But this time it let me.

I am not a superstitious person. But I always called this my ghost shot. This looks like the park we were at. But he is dressed from an earlier time. I think he was enjoying a place he used to be. For some reason my camera captured his image. But I swear....... I did not take the picture. Isn't that just strange?

Horse

So, has anyone heard?

Isn't this the day we are suppose to learn how to transfer our old journals over here? Has anyone gotten a update on that? I checked and haven't heard a thing.

I guess I am resigned to the loss at this point. I would love to save my photo journal though and my vacation journal.

It is a cold and wet day in Iowa today. The smell of fall is heavy in the air and I am wearing a sweater. Too soon. I am not ready yet. I hate getting out the coats and putting my crocs away for the winter. And I am thinking it will be a cool winter. I feel it in my bones, literally.

Couldn't sleep last night. Now when I go to bed I like to lay my head down and be sleeping almost at the same time. Not last night. I laid there trying to go to sleep. Usually when that happens I have lots of things on my mind. Troubling things.

Well I do have lots on my mind right now, troubling things, and the way the world is going right now that is understandable. And personal family issues are in the background. They have a way of working there way out of the background to the foreground when your trying to sleep. But actually last night I don't remember dwelling on any of those things. Just couldn't get comfortable.

I tried sleeping on my stomach. Used to always sleep on my stomach but my big toe kept getting a charlie. Turned to my side, my hips hurt. back, yup back hurts also. Got out of bed, took a sleeping pill and a couple of tylenol. Back to bed and read for awhile. Sigh. Got up and watched a movie on my laptop from Netflix. And finally around 3 am I fell asleep.

I am thinking it is the steroids for asthma. I only have to be on them 2 more weeks. Next week I decrease the dose. It has done its trick. I am breathing well finally. That nagging cough if gone, my chest pain is gone. My wheezing is gone. Just can't sleep. Sigh.

Ok, another question. When I post a picture or graphic it always ends up on the top. I can't insert it where I want. Am I doing something wrong or is that the way of this blog. It is a pain having to drag it in place from the top of the post.

So enough of this rambling post. I think I will have Rick make pancakes for breakfast. We are going to Omaha today to just wander around. See ya all later. Oh and did you see I figured out the feed thingy. Sign up please.

Area 51

People have been asking me what it means, Area 51
That's Jimmy's place. A place worth visiting if you haven't. Jimmy makes me smile and laugh. Makes me think. Make me want a Martini. Hummmmmm. Check him out.

Movies, books and stocks.

Today I lost about $4000.00, maybe more, probably more actually. It would be a great day to be depressed. Open a bottle of wine and Whine. But.....that doesn't help. It doesn't get my money back. So I watched a great movie. A foreign film called A Cockoo, or Kukushka The movie is a funny, sexy, splice of life. I highly recommend it.

I am reading 2 books also. I really like the Waiters Rant as it started as a blog. You can find it on my blog watch. He is funny, sharp, tender, sarcastic, optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. His book is going to be made into a series. I won't watch, I have no TV. But it might be funny if hollywood doesn't screw it up, they probably will though. Check out the book, then check out the blog. Since I eat out often this is a must read. How not to get on your waiters bad side.

Book 2, The Greedy Bastard Diary by Eric Idle.
Well what can you say about one of the Monty Python group. Funny, too much name dropping but still funny. A giggle here, a giggle there.

People ask me. What do you do without a TV. Will..... first of all I have a TV hooked up to a DVD. So I watch movies occasionally. But books...... the world would be a sad place without books. And there are so many of them. More then I can read in one lifetime. So I need more. At least a unlimited amount. Just to get through the books. And I am happy they are still writing them. Keep it up. I can't snuggle up in my warm bed to a good ebook the same way.

Riverssance

You think of something like this and you think of grown up people doing play acting in strange costumes. Well yes, there is that. But there is also fun, and gaiety, laughter and dance.

There is so much to see and it is so much fun. I felt extremely silly not wearing a costume. To be too stuffy to dress up and join in on the play acting.

We saw Jousting.

And birds of prey.

We saw belly dancers and serving wenches, Rick was thrilled,

Does he look happy or what? By the way, he put some of that money there.

Then we saw nights fighting,

And pirates singing.

Kings and mud kings.

This is actually our friend, Garie Lewis, a great comedian who has been on Comedy Central and is a good guy. We got knighted by him with a smear of mud on our nose.

So we had a great time. The smoker was great. We had beer which was kept full by the serving wenches, comedy, pirates telling off colored jokes and great turkey legs. It was a blast and a great way to spend the day. I loved the horses and the jousting.

So next time you see one of these and think, no way! Think again. Because our stocks keep falling, life if getting shorter each second that goes by and fun is hard to come by and good for your soul.

Thanks Phil, we had a great time.
